Weight is still a factor for me,PABAS048 battery as I often walk or take the bus to work when I can. This means that 6.5 to 7.5 pounds is all I am willing to carry. Looking at the 10 pound Toshiba P30 had me previously convinced that a desktop replacementPABAS049 battery type machine was not going to be an option. While browsing for ideas, a heavily discounted Qosimo F10 caught my attention in the store, and sitting next to it was a machine I had never seen or heard of, but would wind up buying:PABAS054 battery the Toshiba Satellite M60. To be honest, the thing that appealed to me most about the M60 was the 103-key keyboard. I often use Excel, and find top-row numbers a pain as I can touch type a numeric keypad, but can'tPABAS066 battery touch type on a QWERTY. A discrete GPU and memory is always a bonus. Construction looked good, and a 7.2 pound weight was a bit heavy, but still acceptable, given the size of the thing. Further poking and prodding and a quickPABAS071 battery trip home to check out info or reviews (none) on the net had me sold. I had a suspicion that the M60 might be a bit more than the "sedan of a laptop" I was looking for, but was willing to give this monsterPABAS105 battery a try!

I paid $2,148PABAS162 battery Canadian Dollars ($1,749 US Dollars) for my rig at the local big box electronics centre with some negotiating. Since the model is pretty new, and lists at $2,399 with only 512 MB of ram on Toshiba's Canadian site, I think IPA3476U-1BRS battery did pretty well. This is roughly equal to the current price of a Dell Inspiron 9300 with similar specs, is and some $1150 less than the LG LW70 with the Dothan 1.86mHz and 128 meg X600 discrete graphics solution.PABAS080 batteryThe deal is even better if you consider the price of reasonably comparable machine configured on Toshiba's US sales site. The exact processor and GPU I have are not offered in the US market but swapping the Go 6600 for an X600, PA3476U-1BAS batteryand choosing the weaker Pentium M 740 still yields a price of $2,222 US with rebate, which is $2,727 Canadian.Appearance and ConstructionWhen it comes to design and build quality, the Toshiba Satellite M60 has, PA3475U-1BRS batteryquite literally a split personality. Open or closed, there is no mistaking the menacing "OS/2 forever!" look of a ThinkPad, or the cheerful "Space, 1999" look of a Powerbook. No, unlike those icons, the M60 looks quite different PABAS081 batteryopen and closed, and varies in apparent build quality top vs. bottom.PA3191-2BAS battery

Closed, the M60 looks pretty X30 batteryuninspired from a design point of view. This is a shame, because the lines are actually quite pretty, but they are disguised by the black plastic body of the machine, and the drab grey of the cover moulding. What's even worse, X50 batterythe grey colour (ethereally titled: "mist grey") is actually a $30 US option on the M60. Save your money and take the no-cost blue or order the orange. As my computer is configured, it looks like it's wearing an old, used cookie sheet for a hat. NP-X06 battery Who wants that? And speaking of cookie sheets, that's about how flexible the lid is from the top. Pressing on the Toshiba logo with the machine closed will allow about a inch dip to be formed. X05 battery I'm going to have to be careful transporting or placing objects on top of it. A hefty curved lip along the top and bottom of the screen limits flex and deflection in the screen assembly itself, however, X06 battery which is reassuring. Opening the machine up reveals a far more stylish, almost retro chic look. It's low, sleek and linear with a deep-sparkle silver colour and bold black accents. When I brought it home I decided it reminded X10 batteryme of an old B&O BeoSound, but now it reminds me of my first computer, a TI 99/4A. Unlike the top, the rest of this machine is pretty flex free, especially given its width. I don't know if it has a cast metal chassis, but it sure feels NV5000 battery like it does.

The hinges are nice Q10 battery and tight, and the locking mechanism has a reassuringly beefy action. As mentioned earlier, the computer is a fairly reasonable 7.2 pounds and can be used on your lap. Be warned of two things though. Q20 batteryThe offset keyboard can make balancing it a chore, and be prepared for intermittent blasts of hot air on your right kneecap when the CPU needs to exhale. Otherwise, the machine stays reasonably cool HP HSTNN-CB72 and quiet, with no risk of slow cooking your legs Crock-Pot style. The keyboard is generous in size and has a nice, snappy electric typewriter feel to it. The right hand shift key could be biggerHP HSTNN-CB73, though. The touchpad has no scroll key, and that means I won't be using it, even though Toshiba has included a nifty touchpad/hotkey utility. One disappointment is the placement and count of I/O portsHP HSTNN-DB72. A somewhat stingy helping of three USB ports is further hampered by sticking two of them in the middle of the back of the box and only one on the right. Who plugs anything but power andHP HSTNN-DB73monitor into the back of their machine anymore? I'm using a wireless mouse, so the transmitter is in the right hand port. Hooking up my camera, bluetooth transmitter or a jump drive means reaching around to the back.HP HSTNN-IB72 This also means I can't use a USB light for those bedtime stories, and rules out the use of one of those cute USB fans altogether. Come on Toshiba, give us two on the left and two on the right. HP HSTNN-IB73 Stick the 10/100 and S-video on the sides too.

This machine isHP HSTNN-LB72 configured with a 17" TruBrite screen with a native 1440x900 pixel resolution. All pixels are firing, the screen is filled out to the frame, leakage and distortion-free. I have still not formed an opinion about the Trubrite coating.HP HSTNN-LB73 It appears best suited to DVD playback as it seems to increase the viewing angle measurably over other LCDs I have used. Of course, this is only good if you want to share, and may not be suitable for a business or academicHP HSTNN-UB72 machine used in public places. The Nvidia Go 6600 does an impressive job of pumping out the frames. Doom III timedemo1 yields a 67fps frame rate with no optimization and all the preloaded Toshiba HP HSTNN-UB73software running in the background. 3Dmark'05 scores the machine a strong 2367 under similar conditions.I do, however, have some problems with the 6600 drivers. First, they won't allow the second monitor as the primary monitor, and the 1280x720HP HSTNN-XB72 resolution of my LCD TV is not supported. On the first issue, I don't know why that is, but may be specific to this type of laptop. On the second issue I have been able to force the resolution with Powerstrip, but I have got to work on my timingsHP HSTNN-XB73 a bit more to get a satisfactory result. ATI's latest drivers support Plug and Play 1280x720, why not Nvidia?Lenovo 57Y6454

The M60 also runs Lenovo 42T4235 as a DVD or CD player without booting into Windows. This may have value for some, but it seems to be a trendy feature designed solely for the purpose of being able to add the phrase "multimedia powerhouse"Lenovo 42T4731 to advertising copy. It's not like you are going to be strutting down the street with it on your shoulder pumping out the Whitesnake or anything. For me, this feature represents nothing more than future salvage value for the laptop asLenovo 42T4733 a backseat baby pacifier when the machine is obsolete.Toshiba, on the other hand, has such a high opinion of this feature that on the very first page of the manual they advise you that charging people to watch movies Lenovo 42T4737 on your laptop in such places as coffee houses or hotels likely represents copyright infringement and may be against the law. I can't count how many times I get hit up at coffee shops by hucksters offering to show me "Donny Darko" or Lenovo 42T4753 "Pulp Fiction" on their Presarios at three bucks a pop. These guys are worse than panhandlers. And hotels? How does anyone get any rest these days? At least someone is sticking up for the artists. There are several Lenovo 42T4757 options to choose from when customizing these components, but this model is equipped with the 54g(TM) Integ. Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN & Bluetooth as I figured I might as well have the Bluetooth capability if I should want it in the future.Lenovo 51J0499 Though you can save a couple bucks and just go with the but I would definitely recommend one of the Wireless options because you really don't want to have to plug in anything else other than the AC if you're around the house. Aspire 8935 batteryPlus, once you go wireless, it is really hard to go back to the anchor of a LAN cable and you can get good wireless routers for pretty cheap these days. I clocked 1.4 MBits per second on a bandwidth test which is plenty fast enough for internetAspire 8730G battery gaming or any file transferring you need to do. It also has a Wireless On/Off button which comes in pretty handy if you want to be sure you're disconnected from the Internet for securityAspire 3020 battery purposes.

HP G62x battery

I needed a new laptop for Acer NV7901u battery school and having been an Apple user for many years it was tough news when I heard I had to use a PC. My first thought was to find something that was at least the same style of notebook as a Powerbook. In other wordsAcer NV7906u battery, I wanted something powerful and light. Initially I was inclined to purchase a Sony S series, but the price was high for what it had to offer, plus I heard it had heat and fan issues. I looked at notebook models by Toshiba,Acer NV7920u battery Fujitsu and Asus but they just didn't seem right for my needs. I finally looked at the ThinkPad T series and was happy with the overall package, so I ordered a ThinkPad T43 through the Lenovo site and got it a few weeks later. Aspire 8920 battery Here is my review after using it for over a week.Although targeted at a business crowd, IBM/Lenovo's flagship T series brings power and portability to anyone looking for a great overall package. The veryAspire 8730 battery distinctive all black body is not only appealing to the eye (well at least to me), but it is also very solid and well built. Though not perfect, the T43 is a very good buy.Aspire 8930 battery

One of the reasonsAspire 8920 battery I liked building machines was that you determined what software and utilities were installed and when. As has been my experience in the past with brand-name machines, Toshiba has not spared the consumer Aspire 8940 batteryone piece of nice sounding, but ultimately questionable utilities, of questionable utility. Do I really need a utility to set up power profiles when I can do it in Windows already? Do I need an optical drive throttling utility that slows down the multidrive so Aspire 8940G batteryI can hear movies better? I don't know, but I'd wish they'd let you decide and install what you wanted yourself.Toshiba does include a neat utility for finding wireless LANs in your area, and displays them with full architectureAspire 8942G battery and channel information in a GUI that looks like planets orbiting your laptop. Again, it's nothing you could not do in windows already, but the way the information is presented is kinda cool.In other features, on the front Y085Cof the machine, there is a 5-in-1 card reader that supports everything but Compact Flash. I use SD and Memory Stick and the action is positive, and transfer speed seems faster than my USB multi-reader.X784C Bringing up the rear, well, the right, is a surprisingly well constructed PCMCIA slot, featuring a real spring loaded door, rather than the current trend of filling the slot with a cheap polyethylene dummy card. For a machine I knew very little312-0864 about that I bought and took a chance on, the Toshiba Satellite M60 not only met, but also exceeded my expectations for the price I paid. Y082C

Are thereF586J some nits to pick? There always are. Are they deal breakers? Not by a long shot. As stated earlier, I wanted a machine that could do a little bit of everything for a reasonable price. What I wound up with in the Toshiba Satellite M60 was a machine that could do W346Calmost everything, and do it very, very, well at a price that I consider a tremendous bargain. If you are in the market for a computer that can do, and there is no hyperbole here, everything, plus be portable and have excellentWU841 battery life you have found your match. As a matter of fact, at the price I paid, this may well represent the ultimate price/performance sweet spot in PC computing period in the second/third quarter of '05. It manages to doKM771 this while being supported by one of the most extensive dealer networks, and most well known and respected brands in laptop computing. No risk of being abandoned when some off-brand manufacturer decides to leave the market; drivers, repairs and support wil312-0902l always be available for a Toshiba Satellite. So, what ever happened to that car-crazy kid who grew up and needed a Taurus? Well, a funny thing happened on the way to trading in the PorscheT749D at the Ford store. He seems to have bought a new Corvette.KM742

As mentioned earlierFujitsu N3510 battery, the FS series is also very light for its size. Sony boasts 6.28 lb with the included standard battery and it certainly feels that way when you carry it, even for a person like me that has been carrying laptops around 4 lb for the past five years. Fujitsu N3511 battery Now, the AC adaptor, however, is enormous and very heavy - I forgot to weigh it, but I'd say it's at least 2 lbs. The fact that its shape and size is close to a brick doesn't help, either. The AC adaptor is simply not something you Fujitsu N3520 batterywant to lug around, unless you are doing some kind of weight training or you need a self defense weapon. As a result, the mobility of FS as a system is being degraded by the AC adaptor, despite the lightness of the laptop itself. Of course, Fujitsu S7000 battery if you use FS in its intended function, the mobility that you need is not that much and you can easily carry the humongous adaptor around. The build quality is very good and Fujitsu S7010D batteryon par with my expectation despite the fact that the pre-built FS series' are all manufactured in China (customizable FS are still assembled here in US). The LCD is completely unaffected by poking the back ofFujitsu S7020 battery the top cover and almost impervious to pressing the rims around the LCD (one of the little things that draws fire on the S series). The main body of the laptop is also very solid and you feel very little flexing when you press really hard on it. Fujitsu S7020D battery Sony will not be too happy about hearing this, but my 4-year-old got a little too excited a couple time and gave the phrase "key stroke" a new meaning, yet the FS handled the abuse easily. For its original purpose asFujitsu S7010 battery a home laptop, the toughness of FS series is certainly more than adequate.Compared to other 15" or 15.4" laptops, the FS series has fewer connector ports. This is mostly due to the fact that Sony is trying to reduce the weight and thickness of the FSPavilion dv5z battery and you have some areas that just can't be utilized for ports. On the other hand, the lack of having every port imaginable does give the laptop a cleaner look from certain angles. You can find most of the portsPavilion dv6 battery you need in the laptop.

The M60's weak showing in PCmark Lenovo L09N6D16is likely due to bottlenecking around the 4200 rpm hard drive, which is this machine's main performance weakness, in my opinion. But to meet a price point, corners are sometimes cut, and here's Pavilion dv6t battery where they do it on the M60. I would have liked a 5,400 rpm drive, but this was supposed to be a family sedan purchase, right? Who cares about 0-60 times on the way to the babysitter?(Just as an aside, the overall feel of the machine is not as quick as thePavilion dv6t-1000 battery benchmarks might suggest. The odd time, the machine will hang momentarily in simple tasks like scrolling through a web page. I doubt there is a major fault in the machine. I suspect that too many pre-loaded utilities HP G62m batteryare competing for the same resources when the Dothan is idling, and when processing power demands go up briefly, sometimes processes are halted or otherwise thrown off in some fashion. The simple cure is to clean out theHP G62t battery system tray, but for now I'm reviewing the computer in an "out-of-the-box" configuration.HP G62x battery)

As a Centrino machine, myHP G72T battery M60 features the full Intel Blue Man Group Trinity of chipset, processor and Wi-Fi card. In this case it's the dual frequency PRO/Wireless 2915 a/b/g card. I have only used the machine in wireless-"g",HP G72 battery but since I live in a dense, yuppie neighbourhood, I can sometimes see five or six networks in 2.4 gHz from my kitchen table. That's getting pretty crowded, and the ability to go 5 mHz in the future with just a router seems like cheap insurance against further Pavilion dv6t-1100 battery congestion. On board as well is the standard 10/100 LAN, as well as a V.92 modem for rural areas and those who like to "kick it old school".Battery LifeI have not run any battery benchmarks as I have been "conditioning" the battery. I have no idea if Lithium batteriePavilion dv6z battery benefit from a 3x charge 3x discharge cycle, but sometimes, old habits are hard to break.I can tell you what I got on my discharge cycles though. The first one was a solid session of encoding .vro files on miniPavilion HDX16t batteryDVD-RAM from my camcorder into MPEG files from the multidrive to the hard drive. Two and 1/2 hours of reading, writing, encoding and fan blowing. The heat blowing out of the CPU duct was pretty impressive, almost hair dryer-like. Next, Pavilion dm4 batterywe had three hours of light-duty gaming in Civilization III Conquests. Finally, I had an afternoon of surfing, Office and e-mail. Not continuous use, and some periods of hibernation, took some calls, went for a walk,Pavilion dm4t battery too. Just over five hours. All were done with a fairly bright screen. This seems to support or even beat Toshiba's claim of 3.33 hours battery life underHP G62 battery normal use.

PA3191U-4BAS battery,PA3191U-4BRS battery,PA3191U-5BAS battery,You can choose to power this notebook with an 8-cell or 12-cell battery, so you might want to pick your processor first and then pick a power source accordingly or just go with the 12-cell if you want to ensure maximum operating life. I decided to go with the 12-cell as well as an additional battery for long trips. Asus n82jv-vx105v charger, As shown in the Battery Eater tests, the R4000 has moderate battery life considering it the Athlon chip's core speed and size (130nm). Alas, if you're looking for the absolute longest battery life in a laptop and don't need to do much more than surf theAsus n82jv-vx103v charger, web or use normal applications, you're probably better off with a notebook geared for light usage that will last far longer. The AMD Powernow Technology definitely does help in this area as will decrease the clock speed according to battery Asus n82jv-vx096 charger, charge level, helping you get the most out of whatever power you have left, but it does suck the juice down pretty quick HP currently offers Windows XP Home Edition standard and Windows XP Professional for an additional $49, so you have the option to upgrade if you so choose. It also comes packaged with a driver/applications recovery disk and various software: PA3191U-1BAS battery,PA3191U-1BRS battery,PA3191U-2BRS battery,PA3191U-3BAS battery,PA3191U-3BRS battery,

Asus n82jv-vx031v charger, Asus n82jv-vx033 charger, Asus n82jv-vx038v charger,The P755 does a good job with heat management and remains cool to the touch even after 2 hours of playing a 3D Blu-ray movie. However, if you try to play a 3D game such as Mafia II then the area around the heat exhaust gets Asus n82jv-vx086 charger, very hot to the touch after as little as 10 minutes. The cooling fan stays off most of the time but turns on full blast while gaming. The fan is essentially inaudible during normal use but is loud enough to be heard across a typical classroom when the fan is on full (again, only during game play). Asus n82jv-vx072v charger, The included battery powered the P755 for just three and a half hours (almost identical to the Satellite L755) during our standard battery rundown test (Windows 7 Balance power profile, 70% screen brightness, wireless active and refreshing a web page every 60 seconds). Asus n82jv-vx071 charger, This amount of battery run time might have been impressive a few years ago but it's barely acceptable for a modern notebook. As we said in our review of the L755, most of the blame for poor battery life falls on the low-capacity 6-cell battery which has just a 4200mAh/48Wh rating.Asus n82jq-vx025v charger, Asus n82jq-vx046v charger, Asus n82jq-vx049v charger, Asus n82jq-vx051 charger,

On one hand, Toshiba delivers a complete 3D entertainment experience for a modest price ($890 "street price" as of this writing). On the other hand, Toshiba was able to make this 3D Asus n82jv-vx028v charger, notebook affordable by using the same chassis used in cheaper budget laptops and that's not ideal for a more expensive multimedia PC.The 3D performance is also something of a mixed bag. The Nvidia GeForce GT 540M graphics provide barely enough Asus n82jv-vx020v charger, performance for older 3D games which means this notebook is really only intended for watching 3D movies on the road or when connected to your 3D HDTV.When you factor in the poor battery life, lackluster build quality and difficulty (or complete inability) Asus n82jv-vx015v charger, playing modern 3D games like Batman Arkham City, you're left with a laptop that's fun for watching 3D movies at VGP-BPS13A/Q ,home but isn't as convenient while traveling and isn't as impressive if you're into serious gaming.Bottom line, if you're looking for an affordable 3D laptop then this is it. The notebook reached a peak of 96 degreesFMVNBP133, Fahrenheit when we ran one of the benchmark tests that measures full system performance. X57 battery, N43 battery, N43J battery, N43JF battery, N43JF-A1 battery, I have yet to contact customer support about anything other than activation of the warranty. They responded very quickly via e-mail (within 24hrs). This was after being frustrated by Lenovo's customer support (who didn't respond to e-mails), so it was a breath of fresh air. I know Lenovo is supposed to have aG50 battery, solid reputation for end-user service, so maybe my experience was isolated in nature.I fully recommend this laptop to those looking for a light functional notebook that is durable and handsome.V50V battery, The balance between weight and performance is exceptional and is a key selling point. As such, it had to be light enough to be M50V battery, comfortable to commute with while having the horsepower to do the above. This automatically put me in the thin-and-light category rather than the ultra-light (integrated video, lack of CPU power and HD space). I wasn't completely adverse to a widescreen,MacBook Pro 13 inch battery, seeing that is the trend, but preferred the traditional 4:3 layout. For general web-browsing and office-work, with intermittent wireless use and brightness set to 6/8 (which I find is most comfortable for such tasks)Siemens Amilo Pi2530 battery, the notebook can last 2h45m. I'm sure with optimal battery settings, the life of the battery can reach 3-3.5hrs, but under normal usage patterns, 2-2.5hrs is more reasonable. While not abysmal, it is below average. An optional 12 cell battery Siemens Amilo Pi3540 battery, pack is available at a reasonable price ($110USD) for true road-warriors. Even with the added weight, the S100 would still be a highly portable machine, then capable of nearly 7+hrs of continuous use. 6/10 The S100 comesSiemens Amilo Pi2550 battery, standard with Windows XP Professional and OneNote 2003. As well, there is a trial version of Norton Antivirus. Pre-installed Toshiba software includes ConfigFree, an application that troubleshoots network connections, SUMMIT (which I think is some kind of wireless file-sharing application), modem dialer, HDD protection utility, echo canceller (for use with the microphone), Toshiba Application Installer (drivers and upgrades), PC Diagnostic tools, RAID console, Recovery Disk Creator and Wi-Fi Detector (the cool looking radar application). I find the applications that I use to be very useful and intuitive. Most of them simply give a more customizable, user-friendly way to manage standard Windows functions. After seeing the Mac OS though, improvements on the Windows interface are very welcome. A partition is made on the HD that allows for a system refresh. Also, the backup software makes system images onto CD or DVD whenever you want. D7310, F5136, G5345, X5875, X6825, Y4546, 312-0305, 312-0306,

Stone, the manager, was very quick to answer e-mails and happened to have one in stock and ready to go. He was also very quick to field any questions I had on the product. Total paid, not including taxes, upgrades and accessories, $2,650 CDN. Siemens Amilo Pi2530 battery, I got the warranty on top of that for 3 years accidental coverage. Given that Toshiba's website has it listed for $2,799, I think it is a very fair price. I got the 1gb memory upgrade from Canada Computers for $150 and installed it myself.Siemens Amilo Pi 3560 battery, The entire process is very straightforward. In the end, 2hrs of driving around was enough to get my hands on the notebook I wanted. Sure beats waiting indefinitely. The overall look of the S100 is very classy yet Siemens Amilo Li 3910 battery, slightly understated. It doesn't have the chic of the Powerbooks, but does have hints of it with its brushed magnesium casing, nor does it have the tank-like sharp cornered box design of the T43. Not surprisingly, it comes in somewhere in between. Siemens Amilo Pi 2540 battery, I find the notebook to be quite easy on the eyes, but it is not going to attract the same kind of attention as an Apple, Sony or the bright red Acer Ferrari.

The screen is rigid with no rippling, twisting of wobble noticed. The hinge feels pretty solid. I find the S100 to be one of the better built notebooks I've come across, Siemens Amilo Li 3710 battery, with only the T series feeling more robust (it does weigh an extra 0.5lbs). It has a spill-resistant keyboard, an active HD protection system, integrated security and reinforced corners around the casing. Siemens Amilo Pi 2550 battery, As well, the LCD panel is tapered in, to prevent it from being torn open or caught on stray objects. All removable parts (battery, DVD drive, etc) all fit very neatly with no wobble. With the magnesium casing, Siemens Amilo Pi 2530 battery, enhanced bumper zones and HD protection, this notebook is built to last. Overall construction is top quality. 9/10The 14" screen is 1024x768 in resolution. I would have preferred a higher native resolution Samsung R60 Charger ,but it was not an option for this model. The LCD panel is of the traditional, non-glare type. The brightness is good, keeping in line with what I have come across from prior Toshiba's, but not up to the color saturation and brightness of the high-gloss screens. Samsung R510 Charger , For office/work use though, this type of screen works very well. The screen is visible under sunlight so long as it isn't displaying hues of black, making working off a patio much more reasonable thanSamsung R505 Charger ,  with the high-glare types.

K43B battery, K43BY battery, K43E battery, K43F battery, K43J battery, K43JC battery, This is a great laptop with several weaknesses. It's definitely not a gaming powerhouse (unless you enjoy older 2D games) or a standalone DVD-player (you NEED good headphones here!). However, its low price, long-lasting battery, qualityAcer TravelMate 5740Z-P604G32Mnss charger screen and great components make it one of the best deals out there. If you want a notebook that does a little bit of everything and does so without being always plugged in, consider Akoya EX!The Fujitsu LifeBook Acer TravelMate 5740Z-P602G25Mn charger T4010 is a Tablet PC notebook convertible device. Fujitsu has more than 60 % of the worldwide Tablet PC market-share and they have been in this market since the beginning, so it seems that Fujitsu has the best experience Acer Travelmate 5740Z chargerwith this type of product. The T4010 is not a pure Tablet like the Fujitsu Stylistic ST50xx series, the ST50xx is a slate style Tablet PC (no keyboard, just electric pen as input). The T4010 meanwhile is a kind of a "variable" notebook, meaningAcer TravelMate 5740G-6765 charger that in normal mode you can use the T4010 as an ordinary notebook, but when you flip the screen over on top of the keyboard, it transforms into a tablet style device, and thereby brings to the table the advantages of a tablet and notebook all-in-one.A53S battery, A53SD battery, A53SJ battery, A53SV battery, A53T battery, A53TA battery, A53U battery, K43 battery,

IBM 02K6829V,IBM 02K6830V,IBM 02K6831,IBM 02K6832,IBM 02K67020 ,The T4010 is targeted at professionals and business people, students in certain disciplines might find this device highly useful too, but the $2,000+ price tag might put it out of the price range for such people. One field where tablets are doing well is of course medicine. Acer TravelMate 5740G-5452G32Mnss chargerThis makes a lot of sense because you can use a tablet easily while you are on your feet, with a regular notebook you really need a flat surface to rest on. With a Tablet PC you can hold the Acer TravelMate 5740G-528G64Mn charger device with one hand and the pen in the other hand acts as a mouse and input device. I personally like to use this Tablet PC feature in situations when an ordinary notebook is uncomfortable, such as in a car behind the steering-wheel Acer TravelMate 5740-6529 charger(when parked in traffic or waiting for somebody, not while driving preferably!) or even in bed. If you're flying in cramped conditions with little room in front, a Tablet PC may be easier for input purposed then too. Taking notes by hand in a meeting and capturing sketches,Acer TravelMate 5740-6291 charger not just writing, is a nice feature. Engineers, scientists, designers and anyone capturing flow diagrams could appreciate this feature. And if you're worried that the operating system might be tough to get used to, well just remember that Windows XP Tablet PC Edition is nothing more than Windows XP Pro with some added features, there's not too much of a learning curve.312-0600, 312-0504, 312-0575, 312-0576, 312-0576, 312-0590, 312-0594,

IBM 02K6821,IBM 02K6822,IBM 02K6823V,IBM 02K6824,IBM 02K6825,The T4010 belongs to Fujitsu's LifeBook series of products. So besides just being of good built quality (it feels really sturdy and the screen holds perfectly for this one point flip-over hinge in both positions) you will have some useful goodies that come with all LifeBook products. Acer TravelMate 5740G-524G50Mn chargerOne such feature is a modular bay system. The optical drive (DVD/CD) is the default item that goes in the modular bay, but an additional battery or hard drive can be placed there instead and all those devices are hot-swappable. The sweetest part is that you canAcer TravelMate 5740G-434G32Mn charger share those devices with other model series LifeBook notebooks too, except for the tiny LifeBook P and B series products that is. A second useful feature is the built-in TPM (Trusted Platform Module). With SmartCard readerAcer TravelMate 5740G-334G32Mn charger (built-in or separate) and SecureIT Suite (smart card and software for it) you can encrypt your LifeBook`s hard drive easily. Encrypting a hard drive is beneficial if you have sensitive data so in case of theft, all data stored on the Acer TravelMate 5740G chargerhard drive disk is not accessible, even if somebody tries to put it in another computer to read it. On the bottom of the screen is the so called "security panel", five buttons for BIOS level password. A very impressive feature is what's called an integrated bridge battery. This integrated bridge battery means that you can swap the main battery out, without shutting the machine down (you do have to put it on sleep) and then put in a freshly charged battery. FK890, FP282, GK479, TM980, 0XR693, 312-0625, After you put the T4010 in sleep mode, you can remove main battery and it will still be stay in an operating mode for 30 seconds, which is surely enough time to swap a juiced up battery in. Acer TravelMate 5740-6070 chargerLike all Lifebook's, the T4010 is designed to work seamlessly, so sleep is the natural mode if you are not actually using the notebook. I like my tools to be ready anytime within seconds so I keep the T4010 in sleep mode a lot, I don't want to wait for Acer TravelMate 5740-5952 chargerWindows to fully boot, the only concern is Windows itself because temp files and other garbage will build up over time. However, one restart on a Sunday evening each week seems to solve this problem for me. The T4010 looks good from the outside.Acer TravelMate 5740-5896 charger A combination of black screen cover and solid silver magnesium is maybe a little bit conservative for some people's tastes, but this adds a "business-class" feeling. The weight of the T4010 is a little less than 2 kg FUJITSU SIEMEN ESPRIMO Mobile V5555 charger, (4.40lbs) which is quite good, all things considered. The 12.1" XGA (1024x768) screen is non-reflective and especially good if using this notebook in poor lighting conditions, it even works somewhat well in sunlight.FUJITSU SIEMEN ESPRIMO Mobile V5535 charger, On the right or bottom side (depends whether you're in tablet or notebook mode) of the T4010 are some small LCD lights that give information about the hard drive status, battery/batteries and so on, a power button and then five buttons related to security (BIOS password) and other tasks, e.g.FUJITSU SIEMEN SESPRIMO Mobile V5515 charger, scrolling pages, switching screen modes, acting as ENTER and function key and others. The pen, called a digitizer, is located on left side of the screen. Included in box is twine for connecting the pen with the notebook, this is a really useful "small matter" FUJITSU SIEMENS Stylistic ST6012 charger, that prevents losing the pen, which happens to cost $40 or more. Also on the upper and bottom sides of the screen are two built-in microphones.

451086-121 , 451086-161 , 451568-001 , 456864-001, GJ655AA, The 1.8 GHz Pentium M and Intel 855 GME chipset performed exceptionally well. The only concern for me was the amount of memory I had on board. Mainly I work with Microsoft Access based applications, so 1 GB is FUJITSU ESPRIMO Mobile V5535 charger, better than 512 MB when it comes to database tasks. More memory is also handy when you want to run Microsoft SQL Server on your notebook. The beige colored "apple-look" keyboard, similar to other 451085-141 , Lifebook's, is sturdy and responsive. The key pitch is around 3-4 mm and I personally like the soft sound that gives audible so you both hear and feel a key has been pressed correctly. Do not think I mean the audible feedback of the keyboard is a cheap clackRW556AA, , the sound is really soft but solid feeling. The Left Ctrl key is in the right place -- that being the bottom left corner, so many notebooks have a function key there and it's really annoying. LifeBook's have never followed such KU529AA, annoying keyboard mistakes, often done by other manufacturers. An almost full size Enter key is a blessing too. The Windows key is in the right place, right where it should be. Call me lazy, but I prefer keyboard shortcuts and that's why I never liked IBM's HSTNN-XB23, ThinkPad keyboards without the Windows key. If you want to hit Window-key + D to access the desktop or just open some program or document, there is no key presented on IBM's ThinkPad and so you HSTNN-XB22, are forced to use the touchpad or stick. I don't like to be forced to do something I don't want to do! The only concern for the T4010s keyboard is that the Home and End keys VAIO PCG-FW Battery , share their place with PgUp and PgDn keys and are accessible only inVAIO PCG-CS Battery ,  conjunction with using the Fn key. The Touchpad is made by Alps and does well as usual. Beneath the touchpad are left- and right click buttons with a scroll button betweenPCGA-BPS21/S , them.

IdeaPad U110 battery,ThinkPad SL300 battery,ThinkPad SL400 battery,ThinkPad SL500 battery,The system came with Windows XP Home with SP2 and comes with all the disks and manuals you would need. It's really great because if you lose the manuals/cds and call HP/Compaq they will send out a replacement next day air, which is very surprising since it costs more for theIBM ThinkPad Z61e battery, shipping than the cd/manual itself. The software included is minimal yet comes with a lot of small things and help stuff which makes it easier for a new user to get acquainted with their new Presario. The one software included that is full version and not a trial isIBM ThinkPad Z61p battery, Norton Antivirus 2005, although I myself hate these programs because they slow the computer down dramatically and seem very intrusive. The customer support variety offered by HP is good, they have customer support IBM ThinkPad Z61m battery,of all types including live, phone and email. What I don't like is that at congested times (day time) the wait time for phone support is very long. The other fact I don't like is you can't upgrade the warranty later onIBM ThinkPad Z60m battery, in time and can only be purchased at time of purchase, which is not good compared to Dell where system warranty can be bought anytime as long as the warranty you currently have is still active.IBM ThinkPad T42 battery,IBM ThinkPad T42P battery,IBM ThinkPad T43 battery,IBM ThinkPad T43P battery,

A1012,M6091,M8244,M8244G,M8511,A1008,A1061,M8403,In the end I found that this laptop is a great buy as it matches price with quality and power. I think it's something that a lot of people would be happy with. The weight is a downside, but as long as you don't mind carrying a 7.85lbs laptop it's okay.IBM ThinkPad X40 battery, I always carry it around with me without too much problem, but if you are carrying it in a bag on your shoulder and continuously walking it can get quite heavy. Otherwise, for the power and processing capability that the Presario R4125 has it's good for games, IBM ThinkPad X41 battery, work, movies and anything else your heart may desire.Battery life is by far the strongest aspect of this laptop. The machine uses a 6 cell 7800 mAH battery. The notebook comes with an innovative power management utility created by Sharp. HP COMPAQ Mini CQ10 charger, On the top right portion of the keyboard is a button labeled "Mobile." When pressed, a screen appears allowing the user to choose 3 preset power management levels. "Max Power" leaves the computer at a maximum power and performance state. "HP COMPAQ Mini 110C charger,Mobile" gives the machine a balance between power management and performance. "Max Mobile" provides ultimate power saving features. You can edit all 3 modes to your liking. You can adjust 11 subsystems which include CPU speed, HP COMPAQ Mini 102 charger, brightness, WLAN, Optical Drive, System Standby/Hibernate, System Wallpaper, LCD refresh rate, and Audio. This management control is unique and innovative, and I feel is the best feature of this notebook. On "Max Power" HP ProBook 4415s charger, I could get close to 4 hours of battery life (this is with wireless on and maximum brightness). On the "Mobile" setting, I would get close to 5 hours. On "Max Mobile" with no Wireless Internet usage,HP ProBook 4411s charger, I would get over 6 hours of battery life!! This notebook simply has the best battery life I have seen in a notebook of its class using only one battery! The notebook comes standard with a 1-year warranty. The Sharp M4000 notebook is the first laptop I have used by this company. HP EliteBook 8530w charger, I think it is a very good business style notebook. It runs fast and has amazing battery life. My only major complaints are that for such a stylish notebook, I do wish the consumer had more options to choose from when purchasing the notebook. The hard drive is only 4200RPM which proved to be quite slow, although there's no point of spending more to get one since ThinkPad SL400 Battery ,I found it's good enough and didn't prove to be the biggest of problems. The 512MB RAM does prove to be not enough and I would have preferred 1GB RAM and am probably going to upgrade it. ThinkPad SL300 Battery , The laptop did hang a lot when I first had it although for some reason now it doesn't seem to do it too much, although I still feel that more RAM would be very beneficial. The games which I played really played properly. Thinkpad T400  Battery,When I had my Presario R4035 it burnt out while I was playing Battlefield 2, it overheated and shot the processor. A41-W3 , 90-NCB1B3000, A41-A3, A41-A6, A42-A3, The keyboard is sleek and silver looking, it would be better if it was a nice white like the Apple laptops. The keys are easy to use and feel just like a regular desktop keyboard so it's easy to type. The touchpad is one of the best in its class. I like the button that allows you to switch it off because it's really annoying when 90-NCA1B3000,your hands hit the touchpad as your typing. The ability to physically turn off the touchpad really does help. I would have preferred the ridges like the HP model rathre than the orange lines, but it's not a big deal. I find one of the things they should have included which most laptops don't have but should, is parallel and serial ports, they should either include it or include a USB converter because personallyA32-M9, I don't want to have to buy a third party one or pay extra (and I mean a lot extra for an original HP one).

The battery is a 9-cell and sticks out quite a bit, it's rated at 6-hours, tests will show whether that rated time is realistic or not.Aspire 7552G-5107 BatteryBelow you see the bottom of the Z60m and where the port expansion slot is for port replicator/dock support and at the front there is access to memory for upgrades. You can see how far the battery sticks out, it's the 9-cell Aspire 7551G Batteryextended life variety, unfortunately I found there's slight wobble to the battery even after it's locked.Overall the ports selection on the Z60m is good, to get more ports such as a extra USB ports, 6-in-1 card reader, DVI or aAspire 7551-5358 Battery parallel port you can purchase the the ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock which is the next generation dock for the ThinkPad T/R/Z series of notebooks (the Z60 is the first series to use this).Built-in Wi-Fi is standard for the Z60m, Aspire 7551-3634 Batterythis unit is using the Intel PRO 2915 802.11 a/b/g compatible wireless card. I haven't been able to test EVDO on the Z60m as this model does not come with it, but on the Z60t I had the performance was really quite amazing and the fact VGP-BPS13A/Q , Lenovo puts the WWAN antenna on the side of the screen instead of embedded within the notebook really seemed to help things out.Infrared is also available as a wireless communication standard, VGP-BPS13A/B , you can use the infrared wireless to exchange files between nearby ThinkPad machines, they'll automatically detect each other and a program will pop up asking if you'd wish to send or receive any files from the friendly neighboring Thinkpad T61  Battery, ThinkPad.

The processor seems reasonable Fujitsu V1040LA battery speedy. The SIS graphics are no match for the solutions offered by ATi or nVidia. I am able to play games like Quake 3, Need for Speed UG at 800x600 without much of a problem.Fujitsu P7120 battery I have 256MB of DDR333 of which 32/64 MB is shared by the graphics hardware. The system response is reasonable due to the lack of RAM. Most tasks seem to work flawlessly.Fujitsu P7120D battery I am planning to pop in a 1 GB stick of RAM To get a readout of overall processor performance we use the program Super Pi to force the processor to calculate Pi to 2 million digits of accuracy. FUJITSU FM PenNote T3 battery Below are the timed results of running this program for the Acer Aspire 5002 and some comparison times from other laptops. The keyboard is quite large and will take a bit of getting used to. A dedicated FUJITSU 3400 battery button for volume control would be useful. I didn't notice any keyboard sag/flex. The keyboard seems quite firm and the play on the keys is quite good. The keys also offer a good tactile feedback. The touchpad seems quite responsiveFUJITSU 3500 battery and has two buttons and a 4-way scroll button. The scroll button seems to work in Microsoft applications such as Internet Explorer and Word, but does not work in Firefox.FUJITSU battery

The laptop comes with FUJITSU T1010 battery 3 USB 2.0 ports (two on right side, 1 on front side), a phone jack (right side), an Ethernet port (right side), a VGA connector for an external monitor (back side) and 1 type II PCMCIA slot (right side). FUJITSU T1010LA battery It has a line in, mic and a stereo out port from the sound card on the front panel. The Acer 5002 comes with an integrated Broadcom 802.11b/g wireless card. There is no integrated Infrared or Bluetooth. This is not much of a problem FUJITSU T4310 battery since I have a Bluetooth dongle. The laptop comes with Acer's Signal Up technology and a different kind of antenna that is supposed to offer increased range.BatteryThe battery lasts about 3 hours under normal usage. FUJITSU T4410 battery This is an 8-cell battery, so the longevity should be better than the 4-cell battery Acer Aspire 3002. For my needs I am happy with the battery performance.Operating System and Software The laptop purchased in India comes FUJITSU T5010 battery with Linspire Linux, which is a just a replacement for not just offering an OS free system (in the U.S. the Acer Aspire 5002 WLMi comes with Microsoft Windows XP Pro). A driver CD isFUJITSU T5010A battery provided with the laptop. Acer has some software offerings that can be used to manage the power profiles, secondary display settings, and BIOS/boot settings from within Windows.FUJITSU T5010ALA battery

I am considering purchasing the extra warranty, although, I am not sure whether I will buy aFUJITSU T730 battery new laptop before that.I think Acer could have gone in for the ATI RS480 for the Aspire instead of the SIS solution as the ATI offered a better overall integrated solution. I would wish for a better GPU, Firewire port and S-video port for TV out.Praises IBM 92P1074 I was really impressed with the CrystalBrite widescreen display and the dual DVD-RW. That's real value for money along with the 64 bit offering for laptops in India. However, I just found out that youIBM 92P1075 can pick up the same configuration with the ATi X700 for the same price from the U.S. Now that's a killer deal.ConclusionThis laptop has a good configuration for entertainment/designers needs.IBM 92P1087 I would recommend this laptop for its excellent value for money with an AMD Turion 64, widescreen display, a DVD-RW, IBM 92P1088 and the CrystalBrite display.

The Samsung X06 is one of a raft of P408 battery recent offerings from Samsung. It comes under their "Thin and Light" range, though I'd suggest in practice it fits somewhere between "Thin and Light" and "Ultra-Portable". I suspect P410 battery Samsung were designing a machine for modestly stingy people wanting performance and a CD-RW/DVD in a remarkably small 14.1" case. There have been a few concessions to achieve this, but theyP46 battery are minor compared to the resulting portability and performance gains. P460 battery You can carry the X06 around town without noticing its weight or bulk and yet it has a large enough screen and processing power to make using bigger applications an almost "desktop-replacement" P460-44G battery experience. The two biggest applications I need to run are Dreamweaver and Photoshop, both of which lend themselves to larger screens and higher powered notebooks. On the other hand, P460-44P battery I travel often and so I was also looking for something that was small enough to take as carry on luggage AND still have room for other stuff. I also wanted it to be light enough to give my shoulder a break P460-AA01 battery when lugging it around.

I looked at a few lower cost Sony Vaio's P460-AA02 battery but there was always a drawback such as only having 256MB RAM, a slower processor or a 40mm thick case. I'm not saying the Vaio's are bad, just that nothing in my price range suited my P460-Pro P8600 Pompeji battery requirements.I noticed the Samsung X06 early in my search as its weight of 1.98kg, thickness of 25mm (just under 1 inch thick) and its Pentium M 1.73Ghz processor really caught my eye. I forced myself to stop considering it when I discovered it didn'tCompaq 134110-B21 have Bluetooth or infrared and because it was more expensive than other similar spec'd, though larger, machines. I simply couldn't justify it with my budget. I seriously considered aCompaq 144558-001 few infinitely more sensible options but in the end I, impulsively and with a somewhat guilty feeling, bought the X06.I bought the Samsung X06 online from the UK Compaq 144559-001 t a price of 755-pounds ($1,297 USD) including sales tax and, although I could find several cheaper options (around 10-pounds - 15-pounds cheaper), the "pay nothing for 9 months" interest free deal suited me. Compaq 144559-B21 This financing cost an extra 25-pounds ($43 USD) and was very easy to arrange. Once approved it was delivered the next day.Compaq 146252-B25

The second group of indicatorIBM 92P1091 lights are located at the center of the front panel. This group of indicators consists of a power indicator, a battery charge indicator, an incoming mail indicator that glows when you have a newIBM 92P1101 message, a WLAN connection indicator (glows when the integrated adapter sends or receives data packets), and a Bluetooth on/off indicator light. So what's missing port wise? Not much, althoughIBM 93P5002a DVI output port would have been nice to have as this is a media center PC and you'll likely have video stored on it that would be nice to get a high quality output to a larger TV. Oh well, the experience you get with the 17" screen is IBM ASM 08K8192 good anyway. The ASUS W2 has a full-size keyboard with black colored keys; the letters are white and the function keys use blue lettering to indicate what the "Fn" key does in conjunction with them.IBM ASM 92P1064 The block of arrow keys are somewhat separate from the main keyboard; the Page Up, Page Down, Home and End keys are a single vertical column on the right; a numeric pad (in conjunction IBM FRU 08K8193 with the Fn button) and a Windows is available. It's too bad there's not a dedicated number pad as there is room on this notebook for such a thing. Build & Design: There were very fewCompaq 159524-001 photos of the machine on the net and I couldn't find any reviews so I was initially apprehensive waiting for it to arrive. Nevertheless, the fact that Samsung is a respected brand went somewaymini NB200 battery to making me feel better about it.Opening the box was a relief -- the magnesium case felt very sturdy and amazingly light and the metallic finish looks functional and elegant. The hinges are mini NB205 battery strong and there is exactly the right amount of friction opening and closing the lid. The single lid latch has a small amount of play, though when the lid is closed it holds firm without play. There is a small amount of flex in the screen, Satellite E105 battery but because it's so slim it's amazing there isn't more. Pushing behind the screen resulted in a small amount of rippling and interestingly, no matter where I pushed on the back of the screen, mini NB200 battery the rippling always seemed to emanate from the same spot in the left part of the screen. I am a little wary of this, but nothing near concerned enough to consider returning it. The only mechanical flaw I could find was in one of themini NB205 battery two battery locks. They both clip in firmly and hold the battery solidly in place; however one of them doesn't have any spring back effect like the other one. (ie- the way a normal laptopIBM 92P1089 lid catch will spring back into place once it has been released). Again, this isn't enough for me to consider returning it.IBM 92P1090

K53J-SX216 battery, K53JA battery, K53JC battery, K53JE battery, K53JF battery, K53JG battery, K53JN battery, K53JS battery, My reason for buying this notebook was simple; I was curious about this new XPS non-gaming notebook and wanted to review it. I'm a big fan of portable machines, especially in the 14-inch and under category. K53J-D1B battery, It's not a laptop I'll keep, simply one I'll play with and then sell on eBay -- that's just what I do.I purchased this notebook via Dell.com on November 1st 2005, which was the week it was released. K53J battery, They estimated a ship date of November 16th, as this was a new notebook I expected slower ship times. November 16th arrived, and no notebook, but Dell sent an email of order delay with the following text: "We have reviewed your order. K53F battery, Although we had anticipated being able to ship your order sooner, we are experiencing an unexpected delay with your order and will not be able to ship this order and any associated orders until on or before K53E-SX123V battery, 11-23-2005. No action is required to proceed with the new date, however, if you do not wish to wait, you may cancel your order." Fair enough, the communication was clear and I had G9817, tracked my order previously and knew it wasn't going to be on time. But then the next day, 11/16/2005 I got a ship notification email from Dell that said "Thank you for shopping with Dell! Congratulations!W5173, Your order shipped on 11-17-2005." And then the next day UPS delivered it, on 11/18 -- two days after the estimated date, which was fine since everything was communicated and I could track it.X72JT battery, X72VN battery, U36(All) battery, U36J(All) battery, U36JC(All) battery, U36S(All) battery, U36SD(All) battery,

That being a grey body, with white trim -- or "white bumpers" as some like to call them, although collision protectors they are not, so don't go playing bumper laptops. TouchSmart tx2z battery, Overall the look is okay, I would have preferred something more along the lines of current XPS offerings from Dell in which the body is grey and the trim is black for a slightly more professional look.TouchSmart tx2-1100 battery, The overall build of the XPS M140 is pretty decent, it uses metal hinges for a secure feeling screen and lid opening and closing experience, it certainly won't wobble like some of those flimsy budget offering notebooksTouchSmart tx2-1020us battery, . The actual protection provided by the lid is very good, there's some reinforcement there to protect the screen and if you push in on the back you won't cause ripples on the screen -- TouchSmart tx2-1020ea battery, which means that when you shove your XPS M140 in a tightly packed bag there's less chance of damaging the screen and it will get overall better protection. The rubber stops on the screen seem to be theTouchSmart tx2-1010ea battery, right height to prevent any scratching of the keyboard keys on the screen, something that's not always the case -- I've even seen many an Apple PowerBook with screens marked up by key rub.JD634, PC764, TC030, TD175 , 0XR693, 312-0625, 312-0633, Lenovo ThinkPad X200s  Charger,

Pavilion g6x battery, Pavilion g6t battery, TouchSmart tx2 battery, TouchSmart tx2-1000 battery, The M140 is definitely more portable than the bigger Dell 6000, you won't feel like you're lugging a brick around with the M140. It's not a thin and light as it is 1.5" thick -- a true thin-and-light should be very close to 1" thick. However, the weight of 5.5lbs 660 battery, (with 6-cell battery) isn't bad at all and it won't weigh you down too much in carrying it around. The battery life is excellent also (discussed later) so the combination of low weight and good battery 650 battery, make this a great selection as a portable notebook with a screen large enough for comfortable viewing. The body casing is made of plastic, but it's not flimsy, it is rigid and has no sag or give to it. 640 battery, The palm rests are definitely firm. The brush metal silver look of the case is meant to give a metallic look -- the white plastic on the edges sort of gives away the true plastic construction though and is a big reason I don't like it that much. The XPS M140 LENOVO IdeaPad V570 charger, screen is a 14" Widescreen XGA (WXGA) with the option of TrueLife (glossy screen) for +$25. The glossy screen upgrade is pretty popular, I selected it. Those that are not familiar with the shiny finish will be quite surprised by the amount of reflectionLC.BTP00.123 LC.BTP00.127 you get in the screen. I like it for the fact blacks seem blacker and whites whiter, the overall contrast and boldness of colors is improved. The glossy finish is usually achieved simply by adding a special layer on top of the regular screen -- which is the approach Dell has taken with the M140. The horizontal viewing angles are okay, although you'll find that viewing head-on while watching a movie is better than sitting off to the side where things get AS10D81a big darker. Light leakage is fairly minimal and not a concern, you can see the backlight at the bottom but only in a dark room. The one complaint I do have is it seems on white backgrounds there's a AS10D75certain amount of what can be described as graininess in the background, this is often described as "sparkles" in notebook discussion forums. This has been a complaint with certain Dell notebooks in the past such as the XPS2 (Dell XPS2 Review) that apparently LENOVO G550A  Charger, uses the same manufacturer, Samsung, for the LCD display as the M140. Honestly though, this issue is not a huge bother for me, a lot of it is psychological and will vary by individual as to  LENOVO G550  Chargerwhether you notice or care about it.As a side note, I used an Inspiron 700m notebook for a while and have to say I still find that to be the best display on a Dell notebook that I've used. LENOVO G460A battery The C1320D notebook offers a midnight Acer TravelMate 4200 battery blue shell with a silver hood and sides, all made of hard plastic. It features a light grey keyboard and is remarkably thin and light for a full-fledged desktop replacement. The modular bay is an excellent design Acer Aspire 9504WSMi battery choice that I wish more manufacturers would incorporate, as the optical drive is very easy to remove and an extended battery can be installed.Above the keyboard are the usual media buttons along with a very M6800N battery unusual decision: instead of the typical LEDs used to indicate hard disk access, key locks, running on the mains, battery life, and all that jazz, there's a small LCD panel. This seems like a good idea and indeed,M6802N battery is very cool in theory, but in practice it doesn't work out so well. The panel is thin and recessed, and you need to sort of peer over the keyboard to get a good look at it. The icons on it are small and in low light conditions the panel is hard to read,M6806N battery this has been a complaint across the LifeBook line that we wish they'd fix by putting a backlight on the LCD display. Because the LCD replaces LED lights, there's no external LED light to tellM6822N battery you the notebook has gone into standby when it's closed -- it simply emits a series of beeps when it goes into standby, and then you just don't have a clue as to the state it resides M6842N battery in.

Unfortunately the overall M6862N battery construction and build quality of the notebook leaves something to be desired. The lid definitely has some flex to it and in the front under the screen there's enough flexing that occurs to fit a CD -- M68A batteryor three into. And because the lid is plastic, it bends easily. Honestly, anyone who buys this machine needs to be very careful with it. Mild pressure on the back of the screen makes ripples and tweaking it from theM68C battery left and right leads to severe rippling and distortion. By way of example, the center of the lid depresses three millimeters with little pressure. The rest of the shell is for the most part okay; there is a little bit of flex in places, M68N batterybut part of that is due to necessary design of the modular bay and just how thin the notebook really is.So, while clearly built and designed for some carrying around, the notebook as aM68R battery whole just does not feel as solid or durable as other portable machines from Fujitsu. Fujitsu opted for a matte WXGA display in the 15.4" widescreen form factor. I was disappointed they M68V batterydidn't opt to include or even offer as an option their famous CrystalView display. I can get over the decision to use the matte display, but what I can't get over is the quality. At full brightness it's a step or two short of where a machine M6A batteryof this brand should be. The viewing angles on it aren't very good; even head on, the corners often seemed shadowy. There's also higher than moderate spill at the bottom of the panel. We've seen so many great displaysM6B00N battery come out of Fujitsu, this one's a real downer.Lenovo L10P6Y22

By now you should've readLENOVO G460G battery enough laptop reviews to know what to expect here: no bass, tinny sound. That's par for the course with any laptop speakers and it's true here. However, I found the sound output at the higher volume to LENOVO G460L battery be impressive and remarkably clear on this notebook. Designers tend to pick odd places to put the speakers - usually wherever they'll fit - but on this notebook they're actually directly below the screen, which is an excellent place for themLENOVO IdeaPad G460 battery. At even the highest volume setting, sound tends to remain crisp, clear and distortion free, and it's surprisingly loud. It lacks that bottom end that just about every notebook speaker lacks, but the sound quality is very livable.Processor and Performance BenchmarksThe C1320D was an opportunityLENOVO IdeaPad G460A battery for me to experiment with and experience a high-performance Pentium M. The Pentium M 760 in this notebook is the second best of the readily available ones clocked at 2 GHz with a 533 MHz Front Side Bus. A Pentium M 780 exists at 2.26 GHz,LENOVO IdeaPad G460E battery but it's somewhat rare.In my opinion, an excellent test of a processor's prowess is a CPU-intensive multimedia task. In the film I recently completed, I used Adobe After Effects for several complex composite shots. LENOVO G460E battery Think of it as running twenty different video files simultaneously, on top of one another, while telling the computer that you only want certain parts of them to show and you'd like it to antialias the edges. You can understand howLenovo L09S6Y02 LO9L6Y02 trying to render something like that would be very taxing on the hardware.Lenovo L10P6F21

This brings me to another Lenovo LO9S6Y02 confusing point about this notebook, to match the high-end processor Fujitsu should have thought about providing more memory than the 512MB since this is the highest end and priciest configuration available.Lenovo L10C6Y02 L10M6F21 Also, instead of single channel memory, it would be better to provide dual channel. Furthermore, not having a dedicated graphics processor coupled with a fast processor still means you can't play demanding games or high end multimedia apps -NP-N150 battery the Pentium M 760 and Intel 915GM chipset clearly doesn't excel at multimedia tasks without help from a graphics card. I recommend upgrading to 1GB of dual channel RAM, but for the price of this machine AA-PL2VC6B-E it'd be nice to get that anyway. It's completely baffling that Fujitsu doesn't offer dedicated video options though, a nearly inexcusable mistake. With that said, the notebook's overall performance for everyday applications is snappy, due in no small part toAA-PL2VC6W AA-PL2VC6W-E the 5400rpm Serial ATA hard disk, but the processor seems like overkill because the subsystem surrounding it just can't support that kind of horsepower. Minimal RAM and no dedicated GPU really hamstring what N150 battery could've been a very potent, well-rounded notebook. In terms of heat output, the keyboard gets fairly warm, but the low hard disk temperature - a very impressive 32C - keeps things cooler than similarN150P battery notebooks. The system as a whole stays remarkably frosty, though the underside gets a bit warm, as notebook undersides are prone to doing.N150 Plus battery

The keyboard is a little awkwardNP-N150P battery to use: you'll notice the very-skinny Fn key and the lack of an extra row of keys on the right side. The Function key pairs with several others to complete functions like managing the brightness and sound levels. NT-N150 battery There's some flex in the center of the keyboard but it's not that bad, better than industry average. Fujitsu had more space though, COMPAQ Armada V300 battery I don't understand why in a notebook of this size they couldn't give dedicated home and end keys. Overall the keyboard is a plus for the system, but a couple more dedicated keys and a Fn key you can hit with a finger instead ofCOMPAQ Armada V500 battery a toothpick would be nice. The touchpad is about 2.5 x 1.75", which makes it a little small. It's responsive though and easy to use. The mouse buttons are clicky and responsive enough, and the middle scroll button isCompaq Armada M300 battery a very nice feature that other manufacturers would do well to include. I find it vastly preferable to the typical scroll area found on most notebooks. The C1320D sports a very impressive array of ports and they're smartlyCompaq Armada PP2050 battery positioned all around the notebook's body. On the left side are the mic and headphone jacks along with the wireless switch - a little out of the way, but at least dedicated. The C1320D Compaq Armada PP2070 battery sports Bluetooth in addition to wireless a/b/g in the form of Atheros Super AG Wireless. I found connectivity to be responsive and stable. The Bluetotoh stack works well, I easily pairedCompaq Evo N400c battery with my phone, keyboard and mouse.

However, if you start pushing the notebook and playing 3D Asus A6T battery, games, video encoding, or even ripping CDs things start to get warm. The bottom back area is especially prone to getting hot, I do not recommend putting this thing in your lap -- it would be Asus A6Rp battery, uncomfortable given the combined weight and heat. With a 17" screen that's power oriented you've got to expect this type of thing though.Input and Output PortsThe port selection on Asus A6R battery, the e1705 is excellent, having six USB ports is borderline ridiculous for a laptop (in a good way). Given the fact this notebook is 1.6" thick it's "fatter" than what I'm used to with a notebook (I usually use a thin-and-light notebook that's 1.0" thick) it takes some getting used to the ergonomics of having a Dell Studio 1749 charger, thicker notebook base. The keyboard keys are pushed back quite a bit from the front of the notebook and I can see that those people who have wrist problems might struggle with having simply noDell Studio 1747 charger, way to tilt the wrists. This is an issue with any 17" laptop that's on a desk though, so just be aware, the good news is that if you want a tilted external keyboard there's plenty of USB ports to plug one into. The travel on the keys is quite good, the feedback from Dell Studio 1745 charger, each key and travel distance isn't as good as the highly reputable ThinkPad, but for light touch typists they might prefer this anyway (light touch typists in general seem to like the keyboards Dell uses).BATACY13L8, BATCY13L8, MCY13, 1G222, BAT3151L8, Dell Studio 1737 charger, Dell Studio 17 charger,

he Pentium M 740 has a 533MHz Front Side Bus (FSB) but theN53JF-QHDA1 battery Dell site indicates it as having a 400MHz on the B130 configuration page due to the fact the Intel chipset used prevents the processor FSB from actually moving data at this speedWhen I bought my system it said on the Dell website the FSB on N53JF-QHDA1-CBIL battery the Pentium M 740 processor was 533MHz, since receiving complaints from customers who indicated to Dell that with the given chipset this was not in fact the true throughput speed, Dell decided to change the specs onN53JF-SX0 battery their website to indicate the Intel PM 740 FSB is 400MHz -- interesting solution to resolving the complaints I must say.And so, if you select the Celeron M processor you can save yourself $150 and not sacrifice much performance -- the N53JF-SX068V battery Celeron M runs at 400MHz FSB and therefore falls into lockstep with the bus speed rate the rest of the components can actually push through information at. Since the Pentium M does haveN53JF-SX080V battery a faster clock speed and superior architecture, it will of course still outperform the Celeron M -- but I don't think by enough to justify the extra cost and since you'll only be using this notebook for web/email/Office tasks then why not save N53JF-SX093V battery money?

One thing I am very happy about N53JF-SX094D battery with the B130 is that the hard drive is standard 5400RPM, not a slow 4200RPM. The drive I got is a Western Digital made drive that has an 8MB buffer, some people in theN53JF-SX094V battery Dell forums have indicated getting a Toshiba 5400RPM hard drive with 16MB cache buffer -- that's excellent for a "budget" notebook. There's no telling what brand hard drive you get, just depends on what's in supply the day your notebook is configuredN53JF-SX108V battery and whether you're lucky or not.On the Dell website it's indicated that the B130 is upgradeable to 1GB of RAM, however some users report being able to successfully install and run the notebook with more.N53JF-SX138V battery I'm not sure why Dell would short itself in their specs by saying 1GB is the max when it is not -- rather 2GB seems to be the max. I have 512MB of memory and for the web browsing and office tasks I've been using the B130 forN53JF-SX151V battery the notebook has been fine with no lag. I installed Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 to see how it ran on this notebook (the simulator does not require a dedicated graphics card thankfully) and, while it ran, it was choppy and a bad experience.N53JF-SX164V battery This notebook is not for gaming nor for running resource hog types of applications or programs. It's good to use as an extension to your desktop, stuff like browsing the web and Office related N53JF-SX168V battery tasks.

BenchmarksWe use the program Super Pi to calculate the FRU 93P5027 number Pi to 2-million digits of accuracy, this is a good way of simply forcing the processor to do work to calculate a number and deriving performance from the time it takes to achieve the end goal. FRU 93P5028 Below is a table showing how the B130 with the 1.73GHz processor stacks up against other notebooks. The B130 is amazingly quiet, in fact I can't recall the fan making any noise. The heat vent for the B130 is on the back of the notebook,FRU 93P5029 this is good positioning because you won't get hot air blowing onto your hand when using a mouse or anything. The heat has not been a problem either. I've only been using this notebook for simple officeFRU 93P5030 related and web related tasks on it, but then again that's all most anybody wants this laptop for and so you won't need to worry about overheating issues. The keyboard on the B130 is fine.73P5167 The keys have a nice click when pressed, but are not loud. The buttons are all full size, including full size Backspace, Enter and Shift keys. There is no sag or problems with the keyboard. The touchpad is as usable as they get, its size FRU 92P1082 is appropriate and there's enough room to move your finger around. I've used notebooks for years and still dislike the touchpad form of input mechanism -- I still often find myself pulling up menusFRU 92P1083 and losing them as my finger slips slightly and thereby takes the cursor off of the menu (webpage menus like this are the worst as they're sometimes hard to use even with a mouse).40Y6791 I've always favored a pointing stick mechanism such as the ThinkPad line of notebooks offer -- and if that's not available a wireless optical mouse is a nice option.ASM 92P1122

When using the B130 for simple web browsing and typing this Dell Inspiron N4010 batteryreview and with screen brightness set to half the battery ran out after 2hours and 20 minutes. That's a little disappointing, but expected for the 4-cell battery I configured with the B130. XPS L501x batteryThe half-brightness setting was too dim and wasn't a very pleasant viewing experience, if at full brightness and wi-fi on you'd be under two hours of battery life. Watching an entire DVD at full brightness on thisInspiron 1370 battery laptop would only work if the movie is 1-hour 30 minutes or less. I'd recommend buying the 6-cell battery if you know you'll need extra battery life, but if you'll be at a desk and plugged in most of the time then don'tFRU 92P1121 worry about it. The 6-cell battery is more expensive and will weigh a little more than the standard 4-cell, but the good news is it does not stick out of the back of the notebook.Only having an ExpressFRU 92P1123 Card slot is somewhat of a downer. There's hardly any ExpressCard accessory options on the market right now, it's all still PCMCIA focused. The ExpressCard is cheaper for manufacturers40Y6799 to put in notebooks than PCMCIA and that's why Dell opted for this expansion slot. I'd prefer to see a dual PCMCIA / ExpressCard slot solution.ASM 92P1138

Operating System and Software Unfortunately N53JF-SX170V battery the B130 comes with the typical amount of garbage software you'll get with a Dell Inspiron notebook. McAfee is on there continually popping up messages every 10-seconds and doing somethingN53JF-SZ075V battery on its own, whether you want it to or not. Stuff like AOL, Yahoo Music Trial, WordPerfect trial and some Corel trial image software are on there to name a few and will pop up and try and get you to subscribe/buy the softwareN53JF-SZ100X battery. Those that are savvy enough might try doing a fresh install of Windows XP, but for others that don't want to do that you can go through the process of uninstalling programs or removing them from startup using msconfig N53JF-SZ100X-BE battery (Start > Run > type: "msconfig" and go to the "Startup" tab). The B130 has the option of Windows XP Home or Professional. I got Home and that will likely suffice for most anybody buying this notebook.Wireless I got a Dell 1470 Internal Wireless 802.11a/b/g Aspire 5650 battery card with the B130. It works well and I've been getting good range, no dropped connections using this card. Since this is not an Intel branded card it means that while this notebook has a Pentium M processor, it is not a Centrino machine. Oh well, Aspire 5680 battery one less sticker on the notebook to peel off!Customer SupportI've never had a problem with Dell service and support, they've always been prompt and there's both online chat and phone support.Aspire 5683WLMi battery Dell is rolling out a new service called Tech Direct that will allow you to interact with a service support person online, during the session you can go to a website and they'll be able to take over your machineAspire 5684WLMi battery and fix it as you watch.

In regards to the issue with the TravelMate 2490 battery misrepresenatation of the B130 as having a 533MHz bus speed when it does not, that's obviously a knock against customer support and overall treatment of customers. The resolution Dell has taken of now representing the TravelMate 2492NLMi battery Pentium M 740 as a 400MHz FSB chip is actually a misrepresentation of what the processor you're buying is capable of and a way for Dell to just gloss over the specifics of the notebook. Most customers TravelMate 2492WLMi battery will not know any differently, but for those that are informed and care about what components their notebook consist of and their capabilities -- they will be frustrated by what Dell has done there.ConclusionThe Dell B130 TravelMate 2493NWLMi battery ends up being a fine notebook for general usage and as an extension of a desktop computer. Obviously this notebook is not for gaming, but if you're looking for a cheap solution for a portable PC so youTravelMate 2493WLMi battery can do work or surf the web from the couch, or have a cheap PC in the dorm room then the B130 is fine. To be honest, I think the HP dv4000, HP dv1000 and equivalent Compaq offerings (Presario v2000 and Presario v4000t)ASM 92P1140 are price equivalent notebooks with much better features. I can't whole heartedly endorse buying this notebook when there's better options out there for the same price, but if you like Dell and can use one of the often availableASM 92P1142 Dell coupons to get a good price on this machine then it's not a bad pick.

The Acer Travelmate 8200 is a high-end business FRU 42T4504laptop from Acer, designed with durability and performance in mind with a reasonably light-weight chassis. It has done fairly well in this respect, with Acer using Intel's new Core Duo processor FRU 42T4513 coupled and an ATi Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics card, all packed into a laptop weighing in at less than 6 pounds. However, the 8204WLMi does seem to have some heat issues regarding heat dissipation -- the heat generated from this laptopFRU 42T5233 vents directly onto the hand I use to move the mouse arround. Also, I find that Acer's signature curved keyboard (smile shape) takes some getting used to for first time users.I bought the Acer 8200 laptop to FRU 92P1137 replace my aging Dell Inspiron 8600. I needed a machine that could meet all of my computing needs for the next 3 years. I develop applications using PHP and the .NET Framework and also FRU 92P1139 play games on my laptop. I also wanted a reasonably light laptop for travel purposes.SpecificationsThe Acer TravelMate 8204WLMi seems to have different specifications in Asia as compared to the model available inFRU 92P1141 North America and Europe. Here are the specifications for the 8204WLMi I purchased in Singapore, in blue are the different specs you'll get with the 8204WLMi in Europe / North America.

Complaints about weight/size?Dell Inspiron M5010R battery I have none. If you are buying this system, be prepared to deal with the weight and size. It's not something you would want to move around, and definitely not a LAPtop. Putting the M7700 on your lap is more or less impossible --Dell Inspiron M5030 battery you can't help but block a cooling vent (it is critical that this computer gets proper ventilation), it is much too heavy, and downright impractical to use on anywhere but a desk surface.Build quality: Dell Inspiron M5030R battery For those who do not know, the Alienware M7700 is a rebadged Clevo D900K -- Clevo is a Taiwanese notebook manufacturer that makes notebooks for Alienware. The M7700 is the second Clevo system Dell Inspiron 17R battery I have used. Plastic used in the case is very sturdy -- thick and high quality. It does not flex. Nothing on this notebook says cheap' in any way, shape, or form. Obviously, Clevo did not make the plastic thinner in order to make the system feel lighter --Dell Inspiron N7010 battery there would be no point to that, now would there? My efforts to get the chassis (base) of the notebook to flex under pressure were futile -- the M7700 is about as solid as they come. Dell Inspiron N7010D battery It's literally solid as a rock. I also attempted to flex the lid by grasping it by the corners and twisting it back and forth. The display panel is so large, it is natural for it to flex just a bit. The actual panel itself only gave way very little.Dell Inspiron N7010R battery My final flex test' was to push in the back of the screen. Alienware's special lid design makes it impossible to even get a slight quiver. Impressive. On either side of the display are twoHP G62t battery "rubber grips" which actually work quite well if you need to move itEee PC 1005HAD battery , and add to the unique look of the system.

One disappointing aspect Eee PC 1005HAG battery of the build quality was the display latches -- they don't feel sturdy at all. They need to be beefier -- they feel as if they could break without that much effort. Also, when the display is closedEee PC 1005HE battery , it never fully closes -- you can still move the display lid up and down when it is latched closed a few millimeters. If there were one complaint I had about this notebook, it would be the display.Eee PC 1005HR battery It's just your average matte LCD panel. Viewing angles are average -- you can see the image on the screen fine from either side, but it does get noticeably darker, and some colors are distorted. From the top,Eee PC 1005PD battery it's about the same, but the overall screen looks brighter from above. The bottom viewing angle is better than some notebooks I have used, but it still gets darker. Even when viewing from the front,Eee PC 1005PE battery the sides of the display are a bit darker due to the viewing angles. The contrast is good, but nothing special. Brightness is also average -- I would have enjoyed a few more nits. It has seven brightness settings. The display suffers from aEee PC 1005PEB battery "sparkle" effect, where you can see the individual pixels glint (that's the best way I can describe it). It's most apparent when viewing a white screen, such as a word document.Eee PC 1005PED battery

My final and most prominent Eee PC 1005PEM batterycomplaint about the display is the resolution. This is a 17" display, powered by an Nvidia GeForce Go7800GTX, and it only has a WXGA+ 1440x900 resolution? First of all, WXGA+ is a waste on Eee PC 1005PEG batterya 17". I'd expect at least a WSXGA+ to take advantage of the huge screen size. And second of all, the video card is capable of far higher resolutions than WXGA+ for gaming purposes. Overall, I'm very disappointed with the display.Eee PC 1005PG battery It's not a terrible panel, just your average display. I'd expect a better screen to grace a $4,000+ machine. I have only two compliments for the display -- it is evenly lit, with little or no leakage,Eee PC 1005PGO battery and it is very easy on the eyes. Not once did I get tired of looking at it, nor did I feel any strain. I used it for hours on end without issues. If you get the M7700, I highly recommend opting for the higher-resolution, glossy WUXGA 1920x1200 panel. HP DP390A Definitely worth the upgrade. In general, laptop speakers are tinny, with no bass and low volume. But this is no ordinary laptop, and it doesn't come with your average speakers. HP DP399A The M7700 features four full-size, surround-sound speakers with an integrated subwoofer. Two are on top on either side of the keyboard facing up, and two are on the front panel, below where HP HSTNN-DB02 your wrists rest, facing forward. You can literally use this laptop as your stereo. I turned it on full blast, and played through various pop, rock, and classical tracks. Even at the highest levels of sound, there was no distortion. HP HSTNN-DB03 I also played through popular game titles -- gunshots were rendered very realistically, I was impressed. The reason these speakers don't distort as ordinary speakers would is because they are big --HP HSTNN-DB04 they aren't just flat speakers, they go back into the notebook. The speaker 'cones' are large, and it makes a difference. HP HSTNN-DB14

The M7700 features a special HP HSTNN-IB04 sound technology called SRS WOW. It extends the sound horizontally -- virtual surround sound. It works surprisingly well. While watching movies, it actually sounded as if gunshots wereHP HSTNN-UB02 going off behind you, or an airplane just flew by your left side. The audio chip itself is AC'97. That left me kind of disappointed; I would have liked to have the high-definition audio. HP HSTNN-YB02 Headphone jack: I was frustrated at the headphone and microphone jacks on the Alienware. It's difficult to put in a jack, and the same goes for taking out. It never felt as if you were going to damage the notebook or your HP 367759-001 headphones, but I found it annoying after a while. The headphone jack quality was very disappointing. Surprisingly, there is zero bass through it -- I tried hooking it up to my external speaker system,Pavilion dv2700 battery and my Bose Triport headphones. Even when I turned up my 200-watt subwoofer to the maximum power, I still received very little bass no matter how high I put the volume. Pavilion dv6100 battery My Bose Triport headphones have their own bass synthesizers, and normally deliver great depth -- but nothing through the jack on the M7700. I checked all the settings for the sound -- nothing would solve it. Pavilion dv2000 batteryFrustrating! Also, there is a decent amount of static. Not that I didn't expect that, since a huge amount of electricity is surging through this notebook at all times, but it still degrades the audio clarity slightly. Pavilion dv6000 battery The headphone jack is well below average for a notebook. I recommend getting a cheap USB sound device or a higher-end Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook for a good sound experience Pavilion dv6300 battery with headphones and/or external speakers. Lenovo T61u battery

PerformanceThis machinePavilion dv6400 battery was built for performance. That's the number one reason to buy it -- no other laptop on the market will deliver the performance that this one will. Equipped with the fastest current Pavilion dv6500 batterycomputer processor on the market, the AMD Athlon 64 FX-60, it is unstoppable for any task. The core clock speed is 2.6GHz -- extremely fast for an AMD chip. It is dual-core,Pavilion dv6600 battery meaning that there are two execution cores on the same chip. It vastly improves multitasking and anything that is multi-threaded, such as Photoshop and others. It's not only the processor that matters for performance --Pavilion dv6800 battery the hard drive and RAM are also important, and for 3D, the video card. Hard drive: Boot-up times are exceptionally fast; I timed it to when I was logged on to be about 23 seconds.Pavilion dv6900 battery Loading times for games, Photoshop, etc are especially helped by an 80GB 7200RPM Serial ATA hard drive. The maker of the drive is Hitachi, a well-respected and high-quality manufacturer. Pavilion dv6500t battery My Alienware only came with a single drive; you can have an additional one for storage purposes, or you can get identical drives in either a RAID 0 (for highest performance) or RAID 1Pavilion dv6500z battery (for data security) configuration.

Lenovo T61p batteryRAM: This unit came with 1GB (2 x Lenovo Y730a battery 512MB sticks) of fast DDR400 (PC3200) RAM. Running regular applications and multitasking was no problem, but in more intense games such as Quake 4, there was some "skipping", Lenovo 3000 C100 battery because the system had to use the Page File on the hard disk for memory; it was out of the main RAM. If you are a gamer or run applications that require a lot of memory, I recommend getting the full 2GB this system can take;Lenovo R400 battery it's well worth it. At least get 1GB. System hangs/pauses: Unheard of. I never ran something that phased this system. The processor obliterated anything I threw at it. Even calculating Lenovo R61 battery 32 million digits of PI and running BattleField 2 at the same time was easy. I could not tell there was a program running in the background, thanks to the dual-core FX-60. BenchmarksI ranLenovo R61i battery PCMark05, 3DMark05, 3DMark06, SuperPI, and HDTune to showcase this machine's performance. Minimal processes were running in the background, and I fully tuned up the system by defragmenting the hard disk, using TuneXP, Lenovo T400 battery and disabling unneeded services. There were 33 processes running in the background when I ran the tests. Each test was run at least three times to ensure that I got reliable results. On the left side you only have the DVD drive and the A32-F52 Ethernet and phone ports. In my opinion Sony could have provided rubber covers for the Ethernet and phone ports. Right now there are just two gaping holes. There are no ports on the back.A32-F82 L0690L6 The FE comes with an Intel a/b/g card. I didn't choose Bluetooth as I can't think of any device I would use that requires it. The wireless network works well. It picked my network upL0A2016 right away and I have no problems using the internet or printing through it.With the LCD at 135/255 brightness (I can still read and work with lower brightness, but below 135 it is not as comfortable anymore) I got 2 hrs 15G10N373800 and 20 minutes while typing and surfing. That's not phenomenal, especially considering that many notebooks now have battery lives of 3.5+ hrs. I wish it would get at least 3 hrs for viewing movies and 90-NED1B2100Y working away from a power plug. With the current battery life you are forced to schlep your power brick around, even on shorter trips. Sony offers a large capacity battery. When I bought it the 90-NWF1B2000Y A32-M50 rep told me that it would stick out at the bottom and lift the back of the notebook a little. That actually seems like a good solution, as a little angle of the notebook, might make typing even easier. But I haven't seen the large A32-N61 capacity battery so I can't comment on it.

The power brick itself isA32-X64 A33-M50, in old Sony tradition, big and heavy. Not quite as heavy as my old GR300, but about the same size. Compared to the S7020's and the Ferrari's it looks massive. As of the time of my order IBM Z61m battery Sony offered the FE with a choice of all three XP OSs. I ordered mine with Pro. Sony doesn't provide any system or software disks, but has an invisible partition on the HD that contains IBM Z61p battery all the necessary files. With two DVDs you can make your own backup disks and then delete the restore partition, freeing up about 10GB of space. Unfortunately Sony also installs a lot of bloatware such as AOL, IBM Z61e battery a MS Office 30 day trial, etc. Some of their own useless programs and some third party useless programs. You can get rid of a few of those if you do a clean install with your newly created backup disks,G51JX-SZ216V G51JX-X1 battery but you can't get rid of all the software as some of it is necessary for certain functions, such as support, short cut buttons, etc. This is actually quite annoying and with the premium price theyG51JX-X2 battery charge for their computers you would think they should be able to minimize consumer nuisance in this department. You get a 1 year warranty with the purchase of the notebook, but I purchased the additional 3 year onsite warranty ($250)G51JX-X3 G51JX-X4 battery mainly for peace of mind. I never needed customer support on my old Sony since I was able to handle it myself whenever something went wrong. If you need customer supportG51JX-X5 etc G51V battery you have the choice of contacting them via phone, email, or online chat. G51VX battery

After some time my FN key stopped working, so I G51X G51XJ battery used this opportunity to test the online support of Sony. I didn't have to wait long for a rep to come online in the little chat window and he (assumed as the name sounded male) was courteous and actually G51XV battery solved my problem. But the time it took him to respond was amazing. I am guessing this guy was talking to 10 customers at the same time as I could have gone and taken a shower between his replies. Conclusion In this review I tried to be very critical, listing allfujitsu m2010 battery the negative points I noticed that might influence buyer decision. Even though, according to this review, the FE might come across as having lots of issues I have to emphasize that I really like this notebook.fujitsu m2011 battery As far as I am concerned there simply is no "perfect" laptop out there as everybody defines "perfect" different. The FE590 the way I configured it, is everything I need in a notebook and maybe a little more. It satisfies my computing needs, Fujitsu FMV-BIBLO MG50U battery while at the same time offering the possibility of light gaming. It is really quiet and has a beautiful screen. It doesn't get scorching hot and on top of that will turn heads wherever you take it. Fujitsu FMV-BIBLO MG50W battery Being the son of an industrial designer, the form factor always factors into my decisions when buying consumer products. With this notebook I notice myself closing it more often than really necessary, just so that I can look at it and open Fujitsu FMV-BIBLO MG55S battery it when I come back.

This is certainly not supposed to beFujitsu FMV-BIBLO MG55SN battery a very portable thin and light notebook, but I think the biggest problem of the FE is its short battery life and lack of portability because of it and the large power brick. So if you are in the marketFujitsu FMV-BIBLO MG55U battery for a 15.4" notebook, portability is not the most important aspect you are looking for, and you don't need the most powerful graphics card out there, then I can recommend the Sony VAIO FE590 as a nice IBM R51 battery and versatile notebook that will make your girlfriend (or boyfriend/wife/husband/etc.) jealous.HP's NX6125 is the midliner in HP's Business Essential series of notebooks designed for serious mobile work.IBM R51e battery It is aimed at price conscious business people requiring a fully featured mobile office. My life has always consisted of working, IBM T42 battery studying and travelling with a notebook but now my old trustworthy Powerbook 1400cs dating back to the stoneage was beginning to get me weird looks from people I was dealing with.NC10-KA06DE battery Obviously I had long since started doing any serious work on my desktop P4 and the dream was that one day I would walk into the store and buy myself a notebook that would replace it. NC10-KA07 battery As my motto is "those who cannot afford to spend money should buy the best" I was first looking at buying a Thinkpad. However the models in my price range did not contain all the features I was looking for. NC10-KA08DE battery There was always something at fault: non-writing DVD or no wireless etc. Models that contained all the 'essentials' features I wanted were invariably at the highend of the price range. NC10-KA01US battery Then somebody here at the forums reassured me that perhaps HP's Business notebook would suffice for my quality/price needs and I was happy to find the NX6125 line containing everything I NC10 Mini battery was looking for with a reasonable price tag. Buying Experience I bought the notebook from a local HP certified retailer who had to order the model I wanted from HP's stock. N110-12PBK battery This took only a few days and I was able to part with my money as well as purchase HP's 3 year pickup and return warranty for it. As I know what kind of use my notebook will face I anticipate to NC20 battery get my money back from the warranty within that time. N120 Mini battery

How much did I pay for it then? N270 Mini batteryAt the time of purchase (the end of January 2006) the notebook was priced at 1020 euros (1220 USD), this includes the Finnish 22% VAT. (exc. And the minimalistic HP logo styled in lowercase italics with a the tiny model name text in the corner N310 series batteryof the screen are a statement that this is no fashionable toy. The build quality far exceeds that of any consumer notebook in the same price range. When closed the notebook becomes a monolith from the Space Odyssey; there are no connectors, hatches or latches that jut out, like in so many other notebooks that are just asking to be broken by Aspire 3104WLMiB80 batterycatching them in something. However there are a few fundamental design flaws. On the bottom, which BTW is as messy and ugly as Titanic's boiler room, they have left the docking connectorAspire 3104WLMiB80F battery with no cover of any kind. Latitude D500 battery

This all metal notebook puts a 14-inch screen inInspiron 500m battery a 13.3-inch chassis and is packed with the latest technology including a backlit keyboard. We take a closer look at this impressive alternative to the Apple MacBook Pro. The design and overall quality of the XPS 14z were of paramount importance to the Inspiron 600m battery designers. Like the XPS 14z’s larger sibling the 15z, the looks are reminiscent of an Apple MacBook Pro. The stark silver exterior is solid aluminum and the darker-colored palm rest is magnesium alloy. Latitude D500 batteryThe chassis bottom is largely one piece of milled aluminum which lends strength; this notebook feels solid as a rock. The palm rest does not flex even under heavy pressure.I was able to get ripples to show on the screen by pressing in on the back of the lid despite theLatitude D505 battery aluminum backing; this is a probable casualty of the lid being so thin. The hinge holding the lid to the chassis is strong and doesn’t allow the lid to wobble excessively. I wish the plastic Latitude D510 batteryhinge covering was one piece and not three, however; this is the only part of the notebook that doesn’t sync with the rest of the design. The XPS 14z was not designed with user upgradeability in mind; Latitude D520 batterythere are no user-accessible panels on the chassis bottom. This is disappointing and a negative side effect of using a one-piece aluminum chassis piece.Latitude D530 battery

The XPS 14z packs an acceptable array of input/output ports including Latitude D600 batterymini-DisplayPort, HDMI, USB 3.0, and a slot-load DVD burner. I would prefer to see a standard size DisplayPort rather than the mini version which requires an adapter. Latitude D610 batteryThere are only two USB ports on the whole notebook and just one of those is USB 3.0. I do however like how most of the ports are located on the back of the notebook; too often notebook designers Dell Precision M20 battery cluster them on the sides and impede using an external mouse (especially left-handers).This is a review of the new Lenovo 3000 C100 (SKU # 0761-26u). The C100 is a new model from Lenovo that is targeted at the Inspiron 6000 batteryaverage consumer or small business buyers, and comes in a lot cheaper than the more expensive Lenovo ThinkPad business models. So in essence it is more of a value line of notebook, without the extra frills you might see on more expensive models.Inspiron 9200 batteryThis laptop was not purchased per se, but rather sent to me by Lenovo on loan to review, so it wasn't really an item I sought out to choose long term. As such I didn't come into it with high expectations as the C100 was from the low-end line of laptops. This concept of mine and believing the notebook would be poorer quality quicklyInspiron 9300 battery changed once I had the laptop in hand.

These are more or less theFujitsu FPCBP91 same specifications netbooks have come with for years. The Starter edition of Windows 7 is particularly disappointing; manufacturers only use it to shave a few dollars off the bottom line. Fujitsu CP293550-01Limitations in the Starter edition include an inability to change the desktop background and lack of multi-monitor support. The second issue with the specifications is the low screen resolution as I detailed above.Fujitsu FMVNBP146 Performance and Benchmarks The overall responsiveness of this netbook for everyday usage is laughable; there is noticeable lag even when opening Windows Explorer and typing in Microsoft Word. Fujitsu FMVNBP177YouTube videos are choppy. The single-core Intel Atom processor simply isn't capable of keeping up with workloads placed on it. A measly 1GB of RAM does not help matters; 2GB would be preferable.Fujitsu FMVNBP178 The included 250GB 7200RPM hard drive actually has impressive performance; it is a 7mm thin model with a single platter. It’s not enough to make up for the overall lack of performance elsewhere, though. The Fujitsu FPCBP145 Verizon 4G LTE wireless connection is even faster than my home cable Internet connection. I experienced strong connections nearly everywhere I went, including inside buildings. Fujitsu FPCBP145AP The responsiveness is excellent. With a network this fast it will be easy to eat through the relatively small amount of bandwidth offered in Verizon's monthly plans (more about this in the Fujitsu FPCBP218conclusion).

You can currently snag this deal for $480 through HP Direct. The dm1 received our Editors' Choice award for being a great netbook alternative; it performs better than most netbooks in the Compaq Presario V3600 battery market while being just about as small and lightweight as one. It carries a rounded "clamshell" design and hardened black plastics with silver accents. In our review we said the build quality Compaq Presario V3000 battery is above average for a budget-class 11-inch notebook. The dm1 has a nearly full-sized Chiclet-style keyboard with extra space between the keys to prevent against typos. In our review HP G6000 batterywe said typing is very comfortable and the keyboard support structure is solid. The Synaptics touchpad is just as good; we said that it "delivers adequate sensitivity at the default settings HP G7000 batterywith minimal lag."When the dm1 got its update, the processor also got renewed; the new E-450 dual-core processor is a slightly faster CPU than its predecessor, the AMD E-350. Pavilion dv2100 batteryDuring our performance tests we found that the dm1 is even capable of playing DirectX 11 games - if only moderately. There is no backlighting. This keyboard more than suffices for casual use.The touchpad is small but functional. The anti-glare surface is easy to track on.Fujitsu FPCBP219 The touchpad buttons could be a bit quieter but offer good feedback. The 10-inch screen is small and just average in picture quality. The 1024x600 screen resolution is far too low to use for Fujitsu FPCBP220 extended periods; too much scrolling is required in web pages and using two windows side by side is about impossible. The screen has some positive aspects such as its practical anti-glare coating (this means Fujitsu FPCBP238AP no reflections in well-lit areas). The two stereo speakers located under the palm rest are better than expected though don't get particularly loud. They’re satisfactory for casual listening.Fujitsu FPCBP144

A full sized keyboard isFujitsu FPCBP144AP certainly nice to have. The keys have a very nice feel to them, but the keyboard seems to flex if you push down with a little pressure. The mouse buttons have a good "click" to them that I like,Lenovo 57Y6450 the buttons don't wobble and feel cheap like they did on my old Dell Inspiron 700m. However, the buttons at the top; the power, volume, DVD, and mute, do feel cheap to me. Lenovo L09S8L09 When you push them you push them down you push down the entire bezel around them and it has a small amount of flex. On the plus side, the buttons do light up and are easy to find in the dark. So overall I like the Lenovo 51J0399 keyboard and touchpad, but I think the system needs a button to turn off the touchpad. I keep bumping the touchpad while I type -- but maybe this is just me getting used to my new notebook.Lenovo 45K2177 I got the 12-cell extended life battery for the dv5000t that claims about 6 hours of battery ife. While I don't have any solid data yet on this notebooks battery life as I have never taken it down toLenovo L08S3B21 empty charge, I can say I started using the battery at 7.30pm one night and used the system at mid-level brightness for 2 hrs while doing heavy power usage things such as installing Lenovo L08S6C21 Quake 4 and also typing this review at the same time. By 9:46 p.m. the the battery was at about 48% charge left, so it seems this battery would have no problems getting well over 4 hours of usage.

My system came with Windows XP Home with SP2. It also came with a ton of bloatware (unwanted software) installed. I knew before I even got the dv5000t would end up cleaning the Lenovo FRU 42T4682 system and putting a clean copy of xp pro on it. I think that notebook makers these days are being cheap by making end users making their own recovery DVD's. After you boot the system and register your copy of winxp, it prompts you to make your recovery DVDs or cds. The only cd that came in the box was an AOL install cd, sigh.Lenovo ASM 42T4691 I didn't test any of the HP software.HP customer service has always been below standard from everything I've heard. Personally, I don't really think you could ever expect to get highly personable service and support from a large corporation like HP. I bothered HP's online support a few times before my notebook came. Lenovo FRU 42T4688They proved to be rather slow and not very knowledgeable of their products. The support and drivers on HP.com are lacking the drivers you need to reinstall Windows XP. I didn't pay for any extra support, I only got the standard 1year warranty. If you choose to reinstall your own copy of Windows XP then beware for the task ahead of you.Lenovo FRU 42T4690 You need to make your own XP install CD using NLITE. You also need to backup the c:swsetup folder to a DVD. HP.com doesn't provide you with anything! You also need UAA drivers, which is nowhere to be found on any of the recovery DVDsLenovo ASM 42T4683 orin swsetup folder. e4 newest patch 1.1 w/ duo core enabled on Q4, at 60FPS at 1280x800 in low graphic settings with ease. The speakers on the MX7515, AL31-1005 like most laptops, are pretty weak. The sound is very crisp, but the bass is almost non existent. I personally don't mind using the speakers for listening to music or playing games, AL32-1005 but for a "fuller" gaming or music experience, I would definitely recommend headphones or external speakers. The Mobile AMD Athlon 64 Processor 4000+ was definitely the selling point for me, PL32-1005 and this thing does not disappoint. This is the fastest processor I have ever used. I am a very heavy multitasker, running multiple programs like photoshop, windows media player,A31-W5F firefox, internet explorer, running virus scans, etc. and I have yet to cripple this processor. There are moments now and then that the processor has to stop and "think" for a split second, but this is very minor A32-W5F in my opinion, and much less frequent than even the fastest of Pentium M's (I'm not talking about the core duo as I have no experience with these). From the moment the power button is pressedA33-W5F till all the background tasks are loaded, this notebook takes 37 seconds exactly to boot up. Keep in mind that this is with a clean install of Windows XP Home. Out of the box it took nearly 1 minute 90-NA11B1000 30 seconds, and this to me was unnacceptable.I currently have 1 gig of ram, which comes standard in the MX7515. This seems like the perfect amount of ram these days,90-NHA1B1000 and I have yet to actually need an upgrade. This notebook comes with 2 ram slots, but only one is considered user accessable. This puts the max ram at 1.5GB. The other one is located under the keyboard, A32-W5F and while it is upgradable, it can void the warranty.

This computer includesA31-W5F a dedicated GPU, which is a must for anybody into heavy video editing or gaming. The GPU included is a 64mb ATI x600. While not considered great for gaming, it definately is no slouch.A32-W5F The only game I'm playing right now is Half-Life 2, and it runs great. With the resolution set at 1280x800, and all the settings set to max, I get about 40-70fps. This GPU is not upgradable.A33-W5F On the box of my MX7515, it is stated that the laptop was supposed to come with a 4200 RPM hard drive, but instead I received a 5400 RPM hard drive. A42-M6 This is probably due to shortages in the manufacturing process, but I'm definitely not complaining. This notebook is on my lap 90% of the time, so the heat issue was very important. Surprisingly, for being so fast, the MX7515 A32-U6 does not get very hot at all. Even while gaming for hours on end, I would never consider the heat to be intolerable. I have even found the heat to be much less than my girlfriends Inspiron 6000.Aus A31-S6The area around the touchpad sometimes gets warm enough for my palms to get a little damp, but its nothing major. The fans are usually very quiet, and are nearly inaudible.Aspire One 721-3574 battery When the MX7515 is under heavy strain however, the fans will usually kick into high gear for a couple minutes, cooling the processor and GPU. While gaming, the fans will usually stay on the highest setting. Acer L10C31 The heat doesn't bother me, but the noise of the fans do. I picked up a cheap laptop cooling pad for this purpose, and it works great keepingacer al10a31 the fans running at a minimum.

The touchpad on the MX7515 is fantastic. Acer TimelineX 4820TG battery I have used this touchpad for everything since my mouse broke, and its probably the best I've ever used. Whether its gaming or image editing, the presicion is right on. My finger just glides along the smooth surface.Acer TimelineX 4820T battery The buttons below the touchpad are pretty big, and when pressed, make a nice quiet click. The keyboard is also very nice. The keys offer plenty of resistance without feeling too firm. Acer TimelineX 3820TG battery Nothing on the keyboard looks or feels cluttered, which can be an important factor for the fast typers. The layout of the keys was very easy to get used to. The keyboard offers no flex anywhere.Acer TimelineX 3820T battery The Fn key has some very useful functions. It can be used to control music in the media player, put the computer into stand-by, turn off the wireless card, and most importantly, turn offAspire 4745G battery all status lights. By pressing Fn+F1, all the status lights that most laptops run all the time (even while you try to sleep) can be turned off. This, I have found, can be a very important feature. The MX7515 came with Aspire 5820TG battery a Broadcom 802.11g wireless card. The range is decent, as I can travel anywhere in my home while still maintaining an adequite connection. I can also detect many surrounding wireless networks. Aspire 5820T battery There is no bluetooth built into this notebook. There is also no infrared port.

Battery:I recieved exactly IBM 40Y6999 2 hours of battery life before my computer was forced into hibernation. This was with the screen brightness maxed, and light/medium usage with the wireless card on. I have been able to squeeze out about 2:25 IBM 40Y7001 with the brightness at half. While not great, the battery life was not an important factor on the decision of this notebook. Because of this fact, I am actually very happy with the battery life.IBM 40Y7003 The charging cycle for this notebook is very short. It charges at about 1% per minute up until about 90%. It takes a little longer to go from 90%-100%. The whole process takes about 2 hours. The batteryIBM ASM 92P1168 included with this unit is an 8-cell Lithium-ion Battery. There is no option for a larger battery.Operating System and Software:The MX7515 came with an ungodly amount of junk software that was IBM ASM 92P1170 preinstalled. Some of it was good, most of it was useless. The good included Nero 6 Suite, PowerDVD, and Microsoft Works 8. Most of the programs come with a complimentaryIBM ASM 92P1172 trial period (Micro Office 2003, Norton Internet Security 2005, McAfee Antispyware, Image Starter Edition 2006). While this is great, what happens when they run out? Then you gotta fork out some money IBM ASM 92P1174 to keep them running. Rather than deal with this later, I just did a clean install of Windows XP right out of the box.

When first starting up the MX7515, your asked to burnAspire One 753 battery a series of backup CD's which would contain all the preinstalled software and the system drivers. If these are ever lost, you can contact Gateway and order a new set.Customer Support:I have not had a Aspire 4820TG battery chance to deal with Gateway customer service support, and I hope I never have to. It seems like many companies these days care little about their customers. Gateway offers a phone Aspire 3820T battery number for their live tech support, but the number provided is not an 800 number. This means that you pay for their services by whatever long distance charges that may apply. When purchasing through Best Buy,Aspire 3820TG battery I was given the option of buying a 3 year service plan. Since Gateway's quality is questionable, I decided to buy it. This service plan also entitles the buyer to a free battery replacement when needed.Aspire 4820T battery At $250, I thought it was a pretty reasonable deal for the added peace of mind. Conclusion:It's hard to recommend this laptop to everyone. If your primary purpose is for gaming, the weak IBM FRU 42T4505 GPU will really be a bottleneck for the newer games. If your always on the go, the battery life and the weight might become a factor. However, If your looking for one beast of a processor toIBM FRU 42T4506 rip through anything you throw at it, a big hard drive, and a decent amount of ram, all for a great price, the MX7515 might be for you. The only thing holding the MX7515 back from being truly great isIBM FRU 92P1163 the weak GPU. If there was a way to upgrade this, the MX7515 would make one heck of a gaming machine.

The Samsung NP-X60 (hereinafter called the X60) is a 15.4" widescreen notebookIBM FRU 92P1165 which follows on from the X50 series and includes the latest Intel mobile CPU and chipset. The X60 weighs in at about 2.5kg (5.5lb) with a 6 cell battery, which places it among the lighter notebooks with a 15.4" display. The IBM FRU 92P1167 version of the X60 reviewed here has the Core Duo T2300 CPU, the ATI X1400 GPU, a 100GB 5400rpm hard disk and a DVD burner. Other versions of the X60 are / will be available with the Intel integrated graphicsIBM FRU 92P1169 or the ATI X1600 GPU and a higher resolution display. Reasons for BuyingFor the past year I have been using an Asus W3A (also sold as the Z63A) with a Pentium M 750 (1.86GHz) CPU Dell PT6V8 and Intel integrated graphics. Comparisons are made in this review with the Asus. The W3A is a version of the W3V with Intel integrated graphics. Overall, I have been very satisfied with the W3A Alienware M11x battery once I got over the initial shock of discovering that the true weight was about 2.5kg (5.5lb) whereas it had been advertised as 2kg (4.4lb). However, this weight included a 9 cell battery Alienware M11x R3 battery with a running time under light use of over 4 hours. I wanted to upgrade to take advantage of a dual core CPU and was also keen to try a display that is one size larger. I do a reasonableAlienware M14x battery amount of traveling, usually to places where good IT support may be lacking, so portability, reliability and durability are key requirements, along with reasonable battery life to Dell YD624 get me through the power cuts.

Boot times are acceptable, averaging about 36 seconds from the time Asus L7000D battery, I press the power button until I reach the log in screen. Performance seems very snappy even with a single 1GB DIMM, which is how I deliberately ordered it to facilitate future expansion, Asus L7000C battery, so I'm obviously not running in dual channel mode. The only lag I have noticed is when I initially launch an application after I first log in, though not significant (this is likely attributed to background processes loading right after login). SubsequentAsus L7000B battery, launches of that and other applications thereafter are almost immediate. The beauty of this dual core processor is most evident when running multiple applications. I frequently surf the net and Asus L7000 battery, encode video for my Sony PSP at the same time and suffer no appreciable hangs or slowdowns. The Radeon X1400 graphics card more than suffices for the types of tasks I perform on this notebook, Asus L7 battery, which are typically multimedia and office tasks for work. Asus F7B battery, I leave games strictly to my desktop on the odd occasion I actually play them. I have not and don't intend to install any games on my notebook, but for those of you interested in benchmarks I have run 3DMark05, Asus F74B battery, with the results shown below. The hard drive installed is an 80GB 5400rpm Fujitsu SATA drive, which to my surprise actually turned in a little better benchmark in HDTune than its big brother the N6410. I have also not had the opportunity to do much comparison Compaq Presario M2000 battery, with others who own Core Duo notebooks, so I will simply give you the facts as reported by HDTune and Notebook Hardware Control. Idle temperatures for the processor typically range fromCompaq Presario C500 battery, 49C-51C when idle. During tasks such as encoding video I have yet to see it break 60C. The hard drive idles at around 42C-44C and I have seen it approach as high as 50C when being accessed heavily. Neither the palm rests, touchpad nor the keyboard area heat up Compaq Presario C300 battery, appreciably and leave the notebook quite comfortable to use even after several hours. I find this somewhat remarkable as the hard drive resides almost immediately beneath the touchpad area. Compaq Presario V2100 batteryThe underside, however, is a different story. As with most Fujitsu notebooks, turning it over and looking at it makes the hot spot immediately apparent. The area which generates the most heat is covered with felt HP COMPAQ NX9110 battery, as is Fujitsu's practice with nearly all of their notebooks. This area does get very warm, but not burning hot. Lenovo FRU 42T4688,For those still interested in doing so anyway, I will tell you that I have used it with a Super Lapinator for a few hours at a time and have not experienced any significant discomfort while doing so. Lenovo FRU 42T4690,Your mileage may vary dependent upon your stature and tolerance. Questions regarding heat invariably lead to the next topic, which is noise. The N3530 does seem to do a sufficient HP Pavilion ZV5200 battery, job of dispelling heat and keeping the temperature pretty even. When on AC and Dynamic Switching mode, the fan appears to run constantly at its lowest noise level, which is almost inaudible unless you are Lenovo ASM 42T4691, in an absolutely quiet room. I would guess on average the fan kicks into a higher mode somewhere between 53C-55C. Even then the noise produced I would equate to the sound of someone using aLenovo 51J0497, hair dryer on high in the next room. When on battery power and in Max Battery mode, I rarely hear the fan until I begin to put the processor under a heavier load. For exhausting heat there are only two vents, both on the outer edges of the notebook. One for the processor Toshiba Satellite P205 battery, located on the back side, and one for the graphics card located on the left side. Not having a background in engineering and lacking the knowledge of precisely where the processor and graphics Toshiba Satellite P200D battery, card are located, I cannot say whether or not this would be detrimental when placing the notebook under an extreme amount of stress. I can only surmise from observing the design of other notebooks that lacking any active Toshiba Satellite P200 battery, cooling on the underside could possibly be a bad thing. Unfortunately I will have to leave that for someone else to determine, because for my uses it has not nor do I anticipate it becoming an issue. ,Lenovo 57Y6567,As to other sources of noise, I have yet to hear this notebook accessing the hard drive. Toshiba Portege M780 battery, Toshiba Satellite Pro 6000 batteryKeyboard and Touchpad: Here begins one of my few complaints regarding this notebook. Toshiba Satellite L355 battery,The sturdiness of build quality certainly extends to the keyboard as I can find no flex whatsoever. On the other hand, the key travel seems very positive to me. At least that is my perception having recently come from an Toshiba Satellite L350D battery, iBook. Key presses require firm pressure and give a lot of tactile feedback without being too noisy. So much so that I have found myself inadvertently not registering key strikes when I actually thought I had. Toshiba Satellite L350 battery, This has lessened a bit over the first week or so as I become accustomed to it but I still find it a tad annoying at times. ,Toshiba Satellite Pro 6050 battery,

Toshiba Tecra TE2100 battery,Toshiba Equium P200 battery,Toshiba Equium P300 battery,The Alps touchpad is offset just to the left and has a subtly grainy texture to it which I also find odd, but pleasing, after the iBook. The buttons are of adequate size, very, very slightly recessed, Toshiba Tecra TE2000 battery, and register clicks with the just the right amount of force in my estimation with an audible click which I find neither too loud nor too soft -- just right. The two gripes I have Toshiba Tecra M7 battery, regarding the touchpad are first, that I believe the touchpad area is just a little too small in proportion to the screen area. If the cursor were, for example, in the lower left corner of theToshiba Tecra M4 battery, screen I would most certainly have to drag it from corner to corner on the surface area of the touchpad twice fully in order to reach the upper right corner of the screen. I'm sure this Toshiba Satellite R25 battery, could be resolved with some setting or other in the mouse controls, but I have not yet experimented with it. Second, there is neither a vertical nor horizontal scroll area on the touchpad itself. This is something I had hoped forToshiba Satellite R20 battery, as it is one thing that I did not have on the iBook and Apple has only implemented it recently. Instead it has been replaced by a vertical scroll button which resides between the touchpad's other two buttons. Toshiba Satellite R15 battery,It does the job, but takes a little getting used to. I don't find it nearly as convenient as a scroll area on the touchpad itself, and when using it to scroll it seems quite choppy and a little too fast for my taste.Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100 battery, There appears to be no setting to adjust this in the mouse controls, either. I often find myself reverting to the old Mac habit of using the up and down arrow keys to scroll vertically, which appears to be muchToshiba Portege M750 battery, smoother.

That said, general productivity tasks and editing video are "snappier" with the dm1-4010us compared to the model from earlier this year. While one can argue the Fujitsu FPCBP145, new APU deserves some of the credit for performance, the faster hard drive in this notebook is also largely responsible. The 320GB, 7200 rpm hard drive is slightly faster than the hard drive in the previous generation dm1. This hard drive is Fujitsu FMVNBP177 FMVNBP178, fast enough to quickly load most basic applications like Microsoft Office or Adobe Photoshop but it simply doesn't offer the extreme bursts of speed that you get from a SSD or a hybrid hard Fujitsu FMVNBP146, drive like the Seagate Momentus XT. That said, adding a faster storage drive in this machine would unnecessarily raise the price. We don't usually test netbooks with the 3DMark 11 benchmark, Fujitsu CP293550-01, but AMD is quick to point out that the E-series APUs are capable of DirectX 11 gaming, so we ran the performance test in 3DMark 11 just to see the results. As the numbers show below, the dm1-4010us puts up a modest fight with DX11 games -- Fujitsu FPCBP183AP , certainly better than Intel Atom netbooks which can't handle DX11 at all -- but you're better off with a system like the Alienware M11x R3 if you are looking for an ultraportable "gaming notebook."Fujitsu CP098635-01 FMP-BP12, Fujitsu FMP-BP6 FMW29BP1, Fujitsu FMW29BP2 FMW43BP2, Fujitsu FPCBP48 CP052605-01, fujitsu cp432218-01, fujitsu cp432221-01,

After 30 minutes of benchmark tests, the bottom of the notebook barely came close to the 90 degrees Fahrenheit range. HP Compaq NC4200 battery, Under normal conditions at or near idle, the same spots were even cooler that what is shown below. The system fan is generally very quiet and cannot be heard above typical background noise in HP Compaq 4200 battery, a quiet office or classroom, but the fan does get loud enough to hear if you stress the laptop with some graphics-intense games.Battery Life Just like the earlier models in the dm1 series, the HP website claims that the new HP Pavilion dm1-4010us delivers "up to HP COMPAQ Notebook nx9420 battery, 9.5 hours of battery life" from the included 6-cell battery. It's also worth mentioning that this version of the dm1 uses a slightly higher capacity 55Wh battery compared to the 51Wh battery in the dm1 from earlier this year.In our tests with the screen brightness set to 70%, HP COMPAQ Notebook nx8420 battery, wireless active while refreshing a website on regular 60-second intervals, and Windows 7 set to the Balanced profile, the HP Pavilion dm1-4010us continued running for 6 hours and 47 minutes. I have little doubt that you can extend the battery life past the 7-hour mark if you lower the screen brightness and aren't actively loading pages every 60 seconds. By comparison, much more expensive Ultrabooks like the ASUS Zenbook UX31E and Toshiba Portege Z835 actually deliver less battery life than this little laptop.HP Compaq NC4400 battery, HP Compaq TC4200 battery, HP Compaq TC4400 battery, Compaq PP2100 battery, Compaq PP2200 battery, Compaq PP2210 battery,

Toshiba pa3641u-1brs battery,Toshiba pa3641u battery, Toshiba pabas123 battery, TOSHIBA PA3612U-1BRS battery,TOSHIBA PA3614U-1BRP battery,If you're in the market for an 11-inch laptop that can fit on an airline tray table with room to spare, offers good battery life and delivers reasonably impressive performance, then the HP Pavilion dm1-4010us is the notebook for you.Toshiba pa3641u-1bas battery,The dual-core E-450 processor and Radeon graphics deliver excellent multimedia performance and modest gaming capabilities in a small package. The lack of USB 3.0 is Toshiba PA3536U-1BRS battery, the only strong negative and although we didn't see much improvement from Beats Audio in the new dm1z compared to the Altec Lansing speakers in the old dm1z, I'm sure some fans of Dr. Dre will be happy to have it.There are Toshiba PABAS100 battery, other notebooks on the market that offer better performance, better battery life, or are even thinner and lighter than the dm1, but you'll have trouble finding those notebooks on sale for less than HP COMPAQ Notebook nx8220 battery, the price of the dm1. We found this model of the dm1 selling for as little at $465 and that's a fair price for a solid ultraportable. Bottom line: HP continues to offer a very attractive netbookHP COMPAQ Notebook nx8200 battery, in the form of the Pavilion dm1 (dm1z).The Dell XPS M1210 is a new 12.1-inch screen portable laptop that features the Intel Core Duo processor, rotating 1.3MP web camera, built-in EVDO and an nVidia Go 7400 graphics card. HP COMPAQ Notebook nx7400 battery, The XPS M1210 features a new design for Dell laptops and offers possibly the best performance on the market for this sized laptop. Toshiba PA3191U-4BRS battery,Toshiba PA3191U-5BAS battery,Toshiba PA3191U-5BRS battery,The XPS M1210 will replace the Inspiron 710m offering that was quite a popular seller for Dell. With the M1210 the latest Intel Core Duo processors will be offered, there will be no Core Solo, Celeron or Toshiba PA3191U-3BRS battery, ULV (Ultra Low Voltage) processor options. It's apparent that Dell wants to keep the XPS line as a performance focused series, whether it's big or small form factor. The first thing that's noticed about Toshiba PA3191U-3BAS battery, the XPS M1210 is that it doesn't look like any other Dell designed notebook currently on the market. That's right, no white bumpers like we see on every Inspiron machine currently in the line-up. Personally, Toshiba PA3191U-2BRS battery, I love the M1210 look with the black lid and silver brush keyboard and casing. The blue effects lighting on the front located silver media buttons is very nice. Overall the M1210 look is very pleasing to the eye, and certainly can be called stylish but not gawdy (like some might say the brazen XPS M1710 gaming laptop design is). Toshiba PA3191U-4BAS battery,The look walks a nice line between being cool yet professional. The build of the M1210 is very good. Toshiba PA3191U-1BRS battery,The casing is made of a magnesium alloy material and this notebook complies with the Dell Road Ready guidelines. The lid is very solid and offers great protection to the screen, push in on the back and you won't see ripples on the LCD. Toshiba PA3191U-1BAS battery, The hinges are nice, rigid enough to hold the screen in place but not overly stiff. The M1210 uses a latchless lid closing design, there is no use of magnets to keep the lid down but when it shuts you can hear it snap shut and spring tension holds the lid in place and closed very well. All of the buttons on the M1210 have a nice feel and are not cheap feeling. Toshiba PA3191-2BAS battery,The touchpad mouse buttons are especially nice in terms of feedback and travel.
