10 Awesome Home Office Designs10/11/2011

With the growing advancement of internet technology, concept of earning money  http://www.mitacapital.com/blog/view/687/10-easy-ways-to-prevent-colds-amp-flu while working from home is gaining vast popularity. The idea of sitting in a cozy corner of house, without being bound to working hours, seems to fascinate everyone (including me). However, working from home does not mean you can occupy any corner of your house, place your system and start working. Careful planning is the key to have a flexible, efficient and multipurpose setup, so you can work with full productivity. You need to analyze some aspects to design a perfect home office for your self, as I bring few of them to light.

If you are sharing your workspace with other family members, keep their requirements in your mind as well.

Purchase the right chair, so you don't get tired quickly

Look for the corner of house, where you can maintain your privacy.

Arrange your work area in "L" shape so everything is within your reach

Install right lighting.

Have sufficient storing shelves or big drawers in your workspace, so all the important task is reachable for you

Hang a blackboard or soft board within your reach to jot down important tasks of the day

Have a steady desk with number of drawers.

Get all the wirings and power cords sealed in a neat way, so your office doesn't look untidy.

Have other things of your interest around, e.g. games, magazines, to comfort yourself when stressed out.Maybe, you must be feeling as if I am restricting you to definite rules for designing a home office but trust me if you follow these guidelines you will definitely enjoy sitting and working in your home office.

1 Million GBP Worth Of Cover? Who Needs That Much Professional Indemnity?10/11/2011

You should always remember that when it comes to deciding how much professional indemnity you should have, it isn't primarily how much you earn from doing things right that matters. It's how much you could cost a client if you do things wrong. And we do all make mistakes from time to time.Take the case of a Graphic Designer who is asked to design a flayer to promote an exhibition. He develops a high concept idea that is going to be expensive to produce but the client likes it and agrees to the cost. Unfortunately, the Graphic Designer inserts the wrong date for the exhibition. Nobody notices, the flayer goes into production and is mailed out directly from the printer.By the time the mistake comes to light, there is very little time left before the exhibition. But the client insists that a new flayer is designed, produced and mailed out and his lawyers argue that the Graphic Designer should be held liable for the entire cost of doing so. Because of the lateness of the publicity, the exhibition is very poorly attended. The client's lawyers also argue that the Graphic Designer should be held liable for the money the client loses as a result. And just for good measure, since the client considers that his reputation  http://www.mitacapital.com/blog/view/687/10-easy-ways-to-prevent-colds-amp-flu has been damaged in such a way as to affect his future business, his lawyers add an amount to cover that to the sum total for which they plan to sue the Graphic Designer. In this case, the total may not reach seven figures but you can see how one small mistake can trigger a whole chain of consequences. And why you might well need considerably more professional indemnity insurance than you first thought. Now let's consider the example of a Consulting Engineer who makes a miscalculation in a design specification for a load-bearing structure that will form part of major infrastructure project. The implications of the mistake aren't realized until the construction phase of the project has begun. What happens? Construction has to be halted but a lot of the ongoing project costs still have to be met. The Consulting Engineer could be liable. Remedial work has to be undertaken. The Consulting Engineer could be liable. The project overruns and the main contractor faces substantial penalty payments for late completion. Again the Consulting Engineer could be liable. And that lot could easily add up to considerably more than 1 million. Are you sure that your professional indemnity policy really provides you with all the cover you need? 10 Common Mistakes Companies Make When Introducing Workwear10/11/2011

Introducing a uniform into the workplace for the very first time can be a daunting prospect. There are countless examples of how it's gone wrong, causing a hullabaloo amongst staff and missing out on massive opportunities for promotion. With that in mind, here are 10 common mistakes companies make when introducing workwear that should be avoided at all costs.1. The don't consult the staff

You're choosing workwear for your employees, so why not ask them what they need. Or what they think about some of the styles you're considering. In doing so, you've got a greater chance of buy-in and a smooth transition. Plus, you'll get some  http://www.mitacapital.com/blog/view/687/10-easy-ways-to-prevent-colds-amp-flu great insights into what they need.2. They don't notify employees that it's happening

Not consulting them is one thing, but to not inform them that they'll soon be wearing a company-ordered uniform is a recipe for disaster. If you want the workwear to be flat out rejected, this is the way to do it.3. They overlook legal requirements

Certain jobs will have legal requirements with regards to what should be worn for health and safety purposes. By overlooking them, it could lead to you needing to replace your workwear straightaway or even putting your employees in danger.4. They don't consider the impact on morale

Going from no dress code to a uniform is not likely to be an easy transition and is likely to have different impacts on different people. It may help some to become more productive, while others may become demoralised. By explaining to your staff the reasons behind the new workwear, it could help it to be received more positively.5. They don't do it for the right reasons

Of course, companies that introduce new workwear without being able to back it up with a solid justification will be at a loss when their employees start questioning their logic. Make sure your uniform is in place for a reason - be it to increase exposure of the brand or improve professionalism within the business.6. They don't provide employees with a choice

I'm not talking about a choice of whether they have workwear or not; I'm referring to the choice between a couple of styles or colours; something that will help with the buy-in and show them that you value their happiness at work. It may be as simple as choosing between a blue or white embroidered polo shirt or between a fleece and a sweatshirt.7. They don't put a policy in place

It's a good idea to put your new dress code/uniform in writing and have it sit amongst your other company policies. If your uniform does consist of embroidered polo shirts, but you don't supply the trousers, you'll need to give examples of what you deem suitable for work and what is not permitted.8. They choose the same uniform for everyone, regardless of their working environment

If you have some employees who operate outdoors and some who work behind a desk, it may not be suitable for them to dress exactly the same. True, there should be some consistency, but it's important that you consider things like the need for high visibility clothing or waterproof jackets.9. They don't include their branding or contact information

This is so important. Companies that don't include their logo, phone number of web address are missing a massive opportunity - especially if the w
