If you're involved with metal parts, or liquids, then maybe you're already aware of the importance of corrosion inhibitors. If you're not, then perhaps you don't know why they are so important. Here's what you need to know. 1. All engines that have metal parts will need to be lubricated, in order to stop the metal parts rubbing against each other, and the engine seizing up, and failing. 2. Like engines, gearboxes are comprised of moving metal parts that would seize without the correct lubrication. 3. Fuel tanks are often made from metal, and so there is a danger that they would rust. This can be avoided by treating the tanks and the fuel with corrosion inhibitors. 4. Fuel processing plants and refineries deal with lots of oil, petrol and diesel, and so need to protect the metal parts of the fuel storage tanks and the other parts of the refinery from rusting and corroding. 5. Fuel storage, either at a refinery or at a service station, needs to take into account the fact that the fuel is likely to corrode the metal without the appropriate corrosion inhibitors. 6. Those involved in fuel transportation will need to make sure that their vehicles are treated so that the tanks don't rust. 7. Any moving metal parts, such as on a bike, or garden machinery, will need to be treated with corrosion inhibitors so that the parts don't wear out too soon, which could be dangerous. 8. Pipes that carry liquids need to be treated, so that the liquid doesn't corrode. Also, as pipelines are often in remote places, it makes sense to make sure that the pipes require minimal maintenance, and there is a low risk of a section of the pipe failing. 9. Paints need to be treated with corrosion inhibitors, so that they don't make their container rusty. Also, some paints will be used on metals, and outside, and so need to be weather resistant. Think about the paints used for bridges, oil rigs, and boats for example. 10. golden girls dvds Lubricants require corrosion inhibitors, so that they don't damage the metals they are designed to protect. Oils for motorbike chains would cause more damage than good if they actually rusted the chain. Household lubricants and oils such as those used for scissors, squeaky hinges, bikes and lawnmowers would be useless if they corroded the metals they were used on. Now you know why you need them, and how important they are, is it time you thought more about corrosion inhibitors? | ||
