Yamaha Introduces i-MX1 MIDI Interface for iPhone 4S Cases Devices
While there have been some MIDI solutions out there for the iPhone 4S Cases and other iOS devices, Yamaha has introduced (PDF) its first MIDI interface for iOS at the Frankfurt Musicfair.
In a small, black device the i-MX1 carries the needed electronics and two connectors for the included adapter cables which represent the MIDI input and ouput (with the well known 16 MIDI channels each). It does not just connect to the iPhone 4S Cases, but to the iPhone and the iPod Touch, too. Since these devices are much smaller, they are even more handy controllers.
The i-MX1 is compatible to the drivers provided by the iPhone 4S Cases-OS (iOS, Core MIDI), theres no need for special drivers. So even third- party applications that are using the iOS drivers can use the i-MX1 as MIDI-Interface.
Hispasonic posts a photo of the box and demo video (Spanish) showing it in action. The devices works with iPad as well as iPhone and iPod. Details are rather limited at this time. |

If you want to be the first person amongst your friends and colleagues to have the new iPad, you will need to head to your local Walmart. Starting at 12:01 a.m. local time on March 16, a limited supply of the new iPad will be available at your local 24-hour Walmart. Apple highlights Retina-ready apps for new iPad
|

With the launch of the new iPad just hours away, there will be a flood of new iPad owners looking for apps that boast the device’s 2048-by-1536-pixel resolution Retina display. To make it easier, Apple posted a new section on iTunes that lists Retina-ready apps recently updated to take advantage of the new display. The section currently consists of about 24 apps, some of which include “Tweetbot,” “Skitch,” “Infinity Blade II,” and “Sky Gamblers.” However, there are surely countless devs submitting updates to their apps right now. Go past the break for the full list of apps.Designer iPhone 4 Case|Designer iPhone 4 Cases
The Twitter iOS app was just updated to version 4.1.2 with the only new feature being high-resolution graphics for the new iPad’s Retina display. The update is available in the App Store now (iTunes link).Coach iPhone 4 Case|Coach iPhone 4S Case

Apple rejected this app because it is too much like Siri
|
The last we heard, Apple was working with developers of Siri alternatives such as True Knowledge, the developers behind “Evi,” to iron out similarities between the app and the iPhone 4S‘s flagship feature. Apple is quick to warn developers who are submitting Siri-like apps not to mimic native features of the OS. Apple wants an app’s features to remain “distinctly different from the iOS behaviors and interfaces to avoid causing user confusion.” Developer Sparkling Apps reached out to let us know Apple rejected its latest app submission called “Voice Answer,” with Apple telling the developer the Wolfram Alpha-powered alternative is “too similar to Siri.”Best iPhone 4 Cases|Best iPhone 4 Case

Apple is not flat-out rejecting all Siri alternatives/competitors. Sparkling Apps already has an app called “Voice Ask” on the App Store that sits in the top charts of the Reference category. Evi remains on the App Store as well. However, the Voice Ask app employs the same True Knowledge database as Evi. While Apple did not offer a specific reason for why the app was rejected, it is possible that Apple is more inclined to reject Siri-like apps using Siri’s Wolfram Alpha knowledge base. Unsurprisingly, the developers decided to release Voice Answer as an Android-only app on Google Play. So why would you want a third-party Siri alternative anyway? There are a few features an app like Voice Answer, if Apple were to allow it, would provide that Siri does not.
First off, the app would run on all devices with iOS 4.2 and up. It also provides spoken answers, optional keyboard input, and configurable items stored in the app’s memory. According to the developer, Voice Answer’s “speech recognition works better than that of Siri, especially with foreign accents,” and the app includes a chatbot called “Eve” that you can teach answers. While most of these features are also baked into Evi, it is unclear exactly why Apple is working with some developers to coexist peacefully with Siri, and then flat-out rejecting others without discussion. It is clear that iOS users are interested in these apps. With the 99-cent-Evi sitting around 200,000 downloads shortly after release, and Siri currently limited to only the iPhone 4S, there is definitely a market for voice-powered assistants if Apple allows it. However, Apple’s reasoning is vague for allowing some Siri competitors and rejecting others. An excerpt from Apple’s rejection to Sparkling Apps and screenshots of the unreleased Voice Answer iOS app are below. Unfortunately, if you want to try the app, you will have to on an Android device for the time being:Burberry iPad 2 Cases|Chanel iPad 3 Case
From Apple:
We found that your app does not comply with the Guidelines for Using Apple’s Trademarks and Copyrights, as required by the App Store Review Guidelines.
Apps that relate to Siri are not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines as Siri is an Apple product, and therefore covered by our Trademarks and Copyrights guidelines.Louis Vuitton iPad 3 Case
It would be appropriate to revise your app concept, app name, and marketing text to address these trademark issues.Gucci iPad 3 Case
For app design information, check out the videos: “Getting Started video: The Ingredients of Great iPhone Apps” and “iPhone User Interface Design,” available on the iOS Developer Center, and the iOS Human Interface Guidelines in particular, the sections, “Great iOS Apps Embrace the Platform and HI Design Principles” and “Human Interface Principles”.Best iPad 3 Cases

Also, we found that your app includes a feature, or features, that mimic an iOS interface or behavior, which is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.
Specifically, the app is too similar to Siri.
It would be appropriate to remove or revise these features to make them distinctly different from the iOS behaviors and interfaces to avoid causing user confusion. While the guideline specifies iPod interfaces, the spirit of the guideline includes all iOS interfaces and behaviors.

Construction begins on Apple’s Maiden, North Carolina data center expansion
|

When Apple published its 2012 Facilities Report and Environmental Update we got some new details on its plans for the currently under construction Maiden, North Carolina iCloud data center. We reported then that Apple plans on building the largest end user–owned, onsite solar array in the US across the road from the data center, as well as the largest non-utility fuel cell in the country at 5-megawatts. Today Hickory Daily Record confirms construction on the main campus has officially begun.Louis Vuitton iPhone 4 Cases|Louis Vuitton iPhone 4S Cases
…this week, work has started on the main campus of the data center. Driving by the campus, you can actually see the structure from the road. That’s because part of the berm — an earthen wall — has been demolished as part of some type of construction… What type of construction taking place on the main campus is not clear. No one is talking, or seems to know.
While it’s unclear exactly what the new structure being built on the main campus is, there are a few options. First of all we know the 5-megawatt fuel cell will be built next to the main data center, and the new building could possibly house that installation. However, asHickoryDailyRecord pointed out, Maiden Town Manager Todd Herms said Apple originally planned to build two identical structures when it first began construction of its Maiden data center. Since Apple has only built one, the new building could be the second building of the main data center.Designer iPad 2 Case|Louis Vuitton iPad 2 Cases
The report noted Apple’s main contractor for data centers in area, Holder Construction, pulled zoning permits last week for a “tactical data center.” Another permit issued on Wednesday named 34 acres of the main data center campus. The current 500,000-square-foot building only occupies approximately 11.5 acres, so its possible the new building will be much larger than the current data center. As we pointed out in our overhead shot of the data center pictured right (Thanks PilotJohn), the report also confirmed land is being cleared for construction of the solar farm being built across the road.Chanel iPad 2 Cases|Gucci iPad 2 Cases
Catawba County Economic Development Corp president Scott Millar told HDR Apple should be producing power with its new projects by October and finish construction by 2013. Apple said the new fuel cell installation will provide “40 million kWh of 24×7 baseload renewable energy” every year, while the 100-acre solar farm will provide 42 million kWh of clean, renewable over the same period. The company originally planned to spend $1 billion over nine-years at the location and hire approximately 50 employees. Millar said Apple hired 76 employees during the first year of operations. It’s unclear whether the initial $1 billion investment takes these

Yes, the new Verizon iPad works on AT&T 3G networks
With the introduction of the new LTE iPad on Verizon and AT&T, many were wondering whether or not AT&T’s 3G network would work on a new Verizon iPad. According to a poster over on theMac Rumors forums, popping your AT&T SIM card into the Verizon iPad’s micro-SIM slot appears to work just fine as long as you first adjust the AT&T APN carrier settings. Of course this does not mean you’ll be able to use AT&T’s LTE network on the Verizon iPad, but if you already have an AT&T SIM for your iPhone, this is an alternative for data when LTE isn’t an option.Louis Vuitton iPhone 4 Case|Louis Vuitton iPhone 4S Case

First shots from inside Apple’s retail store inside Harrods

We told you yesterday that Harrods Apple Store within a store would officially be opening today at 10 AM to sell the new iPad. We first told you about the new store opening in Harrods’ famous London department store location back in January. The new store is located within the Harrods Technology department, and judging by the first image above, it appears to consist of the typical wood harvest tables displaying Apple products that we normally see in Apple’s retail stores. It also doesn’t appear to contain a Genius Bar, as we confirmed back in January, and is quite larger than Apple store-in-store locations we’ve seen before. We can’t see a lot of Apple signage in this image, but we’ll update when we get our hands on more.Designer iPhone 4 Case|Designer iPhone 4 Cases

New iPad jailbroken within hours
|

That didn’t take long. Just hours after today’s launch of the new iPad, jailbreaker MuscleNerdhas posted (Louis Vuitton iPhone 4 Case) screenshots of what he claims is a jailbroken third-gen iPad. Don’t get too excited, MuscleNerd warns there is “still lots of work to do!”, which means the jailbreak is far from ready for prime time. There is “No ETA!”, but he provided the screenshots of Cydia running for proof its on the way. We’ll of course keep you updated as progress is made.
Over on the Dev-Team Blog, a new post notes, “it’s impossible to predict how or when these things turn out,” but highlights the progress made so far with iOS 5.1 and the possibility of jailbreaking the new iPad. Head past the break for the full breakdown:
We can confirm that the method used to jailbreak the iPad2 4 months ago (Louis Vuitton iPhone 4S Case) still works even in 5.1. That means we’ll at least be able to get our foot in the door to get the required kernel dumps on the iPad3. That’s an important step, but by no means is it the end of the story.
Those of you following @i0n1c may have noticed he’s already tweeted pictures of his iPad2 jailbroken at 5.1. As far as we know, he’s using a method completely unrelated to the one mentioned above. That would be great news!
We’ve also seen bits and pieces of an entirely different jailbreak method being investigated by someone close to the Cydia repo scene.
Don’t update your new iPad3 past whatever iOS it comes shipped with。Gucci iPhone 4 cases|Gucci iPhone 4S cases|Gucci iPhone 4 case|Gucci iPhone 4S case
By the way, it’s rare but entirely possible that some of you may find your iPad3 comes with an iOS version that’s not quite 5.1. If you do, be sure to let us know

NPR: Mike Daisey’s theatrical piece on Foxconn workers’ plight is mostly theatrics
|

Marketplace and This American Life have retracted their stories based on the work of Mike Daisey based on further reporting and the accounts of his translator. Daisey’s one man show relives his trip to Foxconn where he claims among other things, to have met “14 year olds, 13 year olds, even 12 year olds” who toiled in Apple’s sweatshops for multiple shifts at a time, and people deformed from working on Apple products.Louis Vuitton iPhone 4 Cases|Louis Vuitton iPhone 4S Cases|Louis Vuitton iPhone 4 Case|Louis Vuitton iPhone 4S Case
Marketplace’s Rob Schmitz, who covers Asia for the news organization, didn’t believe what he’d heard – that Daisey was able to find all of this stuff on his first six day trip to China. He looked for Daisey’s translator, who Daisey conveniently lost the contact information for. When he found Cathy Lee (above), she had no knowledge of just about any of the information Daisey uses in his monologue.
It appears that much of Daisey’s show is fabricated from news events and stories that Apple and Foxconn have already documented. To their credit, NPR were the ones who got to the bottom of the story. Here’s the transcript of the Radio interview on This American Life:
Rob Schmitz: Cathy says you did not talk to workers who were poisoned with hexane.
Mike Daisey: That’s correct.Chanel iPhone 4 Cases
RS: So you lied about that? That wasn’t what you saw?Chanel iPhone 4S Cases
MD: I wouldn’t express it that way.
RS: How would you express it?
MD: I would say that I wanted to tell a story that captured the totality of my trip.Chanel iPhone 4 Case
Ira Glass: Did you meet workers like that? Or did you just read about the issue?Chanel iPhone 4S Case
MD: I met workers in, um, Hong Kong, going to Apple protests who had not been poisoned by hexane but had known people who had been, and it was a constant conversation among those workers.
IG: So you didn’t meet an actual worker who’d been poisoned by hexane.
MD: That’s correct.
Daisey was quick to respond via his blog where he wrote:
“This American Life” has raised questions about the adaptation of AGONY/ECSTASY we created for their program. Here is my response:
I stand by my work. My show is a theatrical piece whose goal is to create a human connection between our gorgeous devices and the brutal circumstances from which they emerge. It uses a combination of fact, memoir, and dramatic license to tell its story, and I believe it does so with integrity. Certainly, the comprehensive investigations undertaken by The New York Times and a number of labor rights groups to document conditions in electronics manufacturing would seem to bear this out.
What I do is not journalism. The tools of the theater are not the same as the tools of journalism. For this reason, I regret that I allowed THIS AMERICAN LIFE to air an excerpt from my monologue. THIS AMERICAN LIFE is essentially a journalistic - not a theatrical - enterprise, and as such it operates under a different set of rules and expectations. But this is my only regret. I am proud that my work seems to have sparked a growing storm of attention and concern over the often appalling conditions under which many of the high-tech products we love so much are assembled in China.

Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer takes charge of retail division as search for Ron Johnson replacement co

The Grand Central Terminal store opening had Steve Cano and Bob Bridger in attendance
Until November 1, 2011, Apple’s widely successful retail branch was headed by Ron Johnson, J.C. Penney’s new CEO. Since announcing his leave in June of this year, discussion has run ramptant in regards to the successor of Apple’s vital retail division’s leader. Under Ron Johnson sat three central executives responsible for the upkeep and success of Apple’s retail business: Jerry McDougal, Vice President of Merchandising; Bob Bridger, Vice President of VP of Real Estate; and Steve Cano, Senior Director of International Retail Operations.Louis Vuitton iPhone 4 Case|Louis Vuitton iPhone 4S Case
In early November, a report claimed that Steve Cano was tapped as the successor of Ron Johnson, but Apple quickly shot down this report and provided comment to 9to5Mac on the situation:
The search for a replacement for Ron Johnson continues, and Apple has nothing to announce about this subject at this time. Chanel iPhone 4 Cases|Chanel iPhone 4S Cases|Chanel iPhone 4 Case|Chanel iPhone 4S Case
With Apple yet to announce a successor for Ron Johnson, the above comment still stands true. Apple has been actively searching for a new retail chief and according to a report from August, Apple has been working with world-renowned executive search firm Egon Zehnder International to find their new retail chief. At this point, it also appears that Jerry McDougall and Bob Bridger won’t be running Apple retail as neither of them are running the retail show right now.
So, who is running Apple retail?
Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer.
Oppenheimer, a financial guru, has been put in charge of Apple’s retail operations according to sources familiar with the search for Ron Johnson’s successor. Oppenheimer is obviously an interimleader with a lack of retail experience, but his executive leadership experience is enough to give orders to his new troops: McDougal, Bridger, and Cano – who have immense retail experience. Oppenheimer won’t stay retail chief forever, and is simply holding the spot until the new Senior Vice President of Retail is selected. Oppenheimer’s title at Apple has not changed from Senior Vice President and CFO, he has just gained the new responsibility of the Apple retail division for the time being.Gucci iPhone 4 cases|Gucci iPhone 4S cases

Peter Oppenheimer reports to newly appointed Apple CEO Tim Cook, and is also in charge of controller, treasury, investor relations, tax, information systems, internal audit and facilities functions. Grand Central Apple Store officially open for business, celebrities, [video]
outlet. At 10am this morning, the 23,000 square foot Grand Central Terminal store finally opened doors for business and big crowds filled the concourse of the Terminal ahead of grand opening. Apple is handing out 4,000 black T-shirts with “Apple Store, Grand Central” graphic resembling a train arrival board, similar to that used as a blockade prior to the opening.
Our Seth Weintraub went to film the store and you can see him in the clip above getting out of the VIP elevator at the top, wearing a press pass (more clips after the break). Also, make sure to check out the below gallery, providing a glimpse of just how massive and breathtaking this new store is. The store has 315 employees, two genius bars, the new 15-minute Express Workshop and also offers Personal Pickup, among other features.Gucci iPhone 4 case|Gucci iPhone 4S case|Burberry iPhone 4 Cases|Burberry iPhone 4s Cases
Reports surfaced earlier this month that a possible state investigation would look into the lease agreement between Apple and the Metro Transportation Authority. The MTA quicklyresponded with all of the intricacies of the agreement, which they referred to as the “best possible deal” and note quadruples their rent and greatly increases foot traffic to other retailers.

Samsung didn¡¯t ¡°slavishly copy¡± iPad, High Court rules and gives Galaxy Tab 10.1 a go-ahead in Austr
Today is a bad day for Apple’s legal sharks. First Motorola Mobility scores a ruling in Germany which has paved the way for a Europe-wide injunction on sales of Apple’s iOS devices and now High Court in Australia denies Apple’s request to appeal against an earlier decision which overturned the ban on Galaxy Tab 10.1 sales in Australia.Louis Vuitton iPhone 4 Case|Louis Vuitton iPhone 4S Case
Put simply, the country’s highest-level legal instance has ruled that no, Samsung’s tablet does not“slavishly copy” Apple’s iPad, as the Mac maker argues in court documents. The Federal Court honored Apple’s recent request that its injunction against the Samsung tablet remain in effect until today at 4pm in order to allow Apple time to prepare an appeal.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Tyler McGee, vice-president of telecommunications for Samsung Australia, said customers in Australia will be able to pick up the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet“towards the latter part of next week”. He said that pre-sales are available today through “certain channels”, adding price points for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia will match Apple’s iPad: $579 for the 16GB WiFi-only version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and $729 for the WiFi+3G model. Apple is also pushing for an injunction on the Galaxy Tab 10.1N in Germany. The 10.1N is a re-engineered version of the original Galaxy Tab 10.1 with an added metal frame around the edges. It’s Samsung’s answer to a Dusseldorf court ruling requiring Samsung to comply with a sales ban. A hearing in that case is scheduled for December 22.

Did Apple pull television shows from new Apple TV software in Canada?

Just two days after Wednesday’s release of an updated software for the Apple TV set-top box that brought the new TV Shows menu option, we’re hearing Apple pulled that option from the device’s menu, reports iPhoneinCanada.ca. Originally, the firmware update (which was deployed silently) added the new TV Shows choice to the Apple TV main menu.Louis Vuitton iPhone 4 Cases|Louis Vuitton iPhone 4S Cases
However, it doesn’t work as iTunes Canada users report being unable to purchase television shows. For some, the TV Shows menu option disappeared on its own 24 hours following the firmware update. Others report that the option gets deleted from the main menu upon choosing it. It could also be a software glitch rather than a deliberate move on Apple’s part and there’s already a thread on Apple’s support discussions forum.

Today, we now know why it wasn’t functioning the right way. Apple has pulled the menu update off Apple TVs in Canada. Most likely because the update was mistakenly sent out early, or the fact it wasn’t working properly. In addition to Canada, the new Apple TV software has also enabled the ability to purchase television shows in Australia and the United Kingdom. If you live in the U.K., Australia and Canada and are experiencing similar glitches, we’d love to hear from you in the comments.Louis Vuitton iPhone 4 Case|Louis Vuitton iPhone 4S Case |
