When Catastrophe Strikes

Only when we take human existence upon ourselves in its starkest and most humiliating misery—a misery in which nothing has meaning—can we win through to the only possible way to live. Only when we taste the lot of all, when we become involved deeply in world suffering, one in heart with the need of humanity, can we win through to our true vocation. Only when the conscience becomes active, only when love is born out of suffering, only when hardship leads to liberating action, is victory near.

Sadness...8/23/2005

"The essential sadness is to go through life without loving. But it would be almost equally sad to leave this world without ever telling those you loved that you love them." Anonymous

Monotone

The monotone of the rain is beautiful,

And the sudden rise and slow relapse

Of the long multitudinous rain.

The sun on the hills is beautiful,

Or a captured sunset sea-flung,

Bannered with fire and gold.

A face I know is beautiful--

With fire and gold of sky and sea,

And the peace of long warm rain.

At Last

At last, when all the summer shine
   That warmed life's early hours is past,
Your loving fingers seek for mine
   And hold them close—at last—at last!
Not oft the robin comes to build
   Its nest upon the leafless bough
By autumn robbed, by winter chilled,—
   But you, dear heart, you love me now.

Though there are shadows on my brow
   And furrows on my cheek, in truth,—
The marks where Time's remorseless plough
   Broke up the blooming sward of Youth,—
Though fled is every girlish grace
   Might win or hold a lover's vow,
Despite my sad and faded face,
   And darkened heart, you love me now!

I count no more my wasted tears;
   They left no echo of their fall;
I mourn no more my lonesome years;
   This blessed hour atones for all.
I fear not all that Time or Fate
   May bring to burden heart or brow,—
Strong in the love that came so late,
   Our souls shall keep it always now!

Poetic Soul8/12/2005

Hi! This is my first post in this blog. My name is Wendy and I'm a big fan of poetry and inspirational quotes, so I decided to show others what I like the most and maybe give you some inspiration too. Poetry is an important part of my life, cause I can always find something that relates to my life and it feels great!

"The world is a dangerous place. Not because of the people who are evil; but because of the people who don't do anything about it." Albert Einstein
